I have a special place in my heart for this location. 30 years ago when my wife and I had little money but lots of inclination for travel we stayed on Place Dauphine two times for a week each time. We wanted to see Europe but we were especially keen on Paris. We needed a very affordable place to stay... More

Sorry wrote a review of the Place Dauphine in the Ile de la Cite section. I love the Place Dauphine, despite a lot of people mentioning it, it is one of the most peaceful parts of Paris. Visited most days during our stay in Paris and could never get bored. There is very little to do other than let the... More

I had heard about Place Dauphine for years, but never got around to visiting it. To say I was I disappointed would be putting it mildly. I expected much more, having seen Place Dauphine numerous times in movies and commercials, always luminous and full of interesting people... Here's what I saw on a recent sunny May afternoon: cobblestones surrounding a... More

Nice area, with the Cathédrale Notre Dame de Paris just around the corner, Cafes all around, the beautiful bridge view and subway stations different lanes just right there. We stayed at Holiday Rentals apt 6 Place Dauphine Paris, and we could could not like more, every thing was close and had a good time. Fantastic location, beautiful area to enjoy... More

Close to my hotel, I think I spent time in this area almost every day. Enjoying a coffee and one of the many cafes, perusing the art galleries and shops nearby, enjoying a chocolate-filled crepe an people-watching as I strolled around.

+ Not too crowd; noise is not allowed so you can have a very quiet evening at a terrasse. best in summer Also early morning (as in Dutronc's song) - Book restaurants in advance

This looks a good square for locals, but I didn't think it was special. It has good vies of some nice buildings, and is in a nice spot, but I would visit if I was on the way somewhere else and this was on the way, or I was meeting someone. For a family with children I would not visit... More

Each time I visit Paris I head here, through out the day the light flatters this sand covered place. Romantic benches and lovely little restaurants to sit and dream.

At the west tip of the Ile de La Cite there are two handsome houses, warm brick with creamy stone dressing which mark the entrance to an unexpected triangular 'square' called the Place Dauphine. Built at the same time as the Place Vendome, this has been altered considerably since, but still keeps it's air of a being a part of... More

Walked through here about 12:30 pm and it was fairly dead. It would be nice for couples and has some nice buildings but it's really nothing special.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
