We stayed in an apartment overlooking Place Dauphine. After a few days we clearly understood that this was THE PLACE for Petanque (a French game similar to Bocci with silver balls). Every evening there seemed to be 4-5 groups playing the game. Pick up an...More

Paris offers thousands of attractions, beautiful places and lovely corners, but I think that exactly in the middle of the town there is this magic square that is an "island" in the "île de la cité". Eating a Ocean salad and drinking a glass of...More

Stayed at an apartment here on our last trip to Paris in April 2016. Although we generally stay near Bastille, we found this to be an excellentm, alternative place / location to stay. Built in the early 1700's it is a hidden gem that you...More

Watched locals playing bocce in the square with picnics... Delightful! Then an immense party of people (I was told 800 people!) dressed in white showed up with tables and chairs and food and white balloons and and candelabras and centerpieces... A piano player 'street musician'......More

This 3-acre triangle on the western end of Ile de la Cite brings me back on my visits to Paris, because of its charm and tranquility. Located just east of the Pont Neuf's midpoint, the place features space to roam, old-fashioned street lamps, benches, shade...More

One of my favourite squares in Paris. I always visit when I am in France. A small square with some lovely restaurants around it, it has beautiful trees, a lovely sitting area and a very calm and inviting atmosphere.

This was the first area I ended up at when I started exploring Paris. It is a nice quiet square (well technically it’s triangular, but whatever…) especially when compared to the hustle and bustle of the rest of Île de la Cité. There are a...More

The square at the western end of the Ile de la Cite was the second project for building the public squares in the city (after the Place des Vosges) started by Henry IV in 1607. The square has a triangular shape and it is a...More

Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very
heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité,
sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of
Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the
site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held
before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic
Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the
Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island,
