Well worth a visit but not what we was expecting... It is one of the places in paris that need to be seen just in case it was worth it.

I went to Opéra Bastille to see the “Le Crépuscule des Dieus” (Götterdämmerung) opera and it did not disappoint. Even though Opéra Bastille’s architecture and design choices are heavily criticized (Palais Garnier seems to be every Parisian’s pride & joy), the place excels where it really matters: the acoustics are perfect, the seats are comfortable and the lightning is adequate.... More

When the Theatre de la Bastille was announced as the replacement for the gorgeous but outdated Opera Garnier, the argument was that technology was more important to performances than a building’s grandeur. So, when I attended a performance of Don Quixote at the Bastille, I was expecting to be wowed by the opera house’s acoustics, lightings, general use of space... More
