Neighbourhood: Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the centre of Paris this neighbourhood has something for every hour of the day.

Catacombs and Lion
Dec. 2017 • Friends
The Place Denfert-Rochereau is a small area in Paris where the Catacombs are located with a giant Lion statue in the middle of the square, smaller statues nearby and bordered by lots of little cafes.

A nice place to have a look if you’re in the area - not if you’re not in the area.

Perfect location for Saclay
Jul. 2017 • Business
Since I need to go to Saclay for business, I found that Denfert Rochereau is a good place to stay with lots of restaurants and also shops. With RER B, I can easily go to the Ile de France and also Saclay.

Lovely place - beware of pickpockets
Jan. 2017 • Couples
A lovely place to visit, visited the Catacombs which are definitely worth a visit for anyone in Paris. We stayed not far away in Cambronne and had to pass through Denfert-Rochereau station on our way back to CDG airport today and i unfortunately had my wallet stolen whilst trying to board a train. Two tall black men, the first blocked the path of my fiancée, once she managed to get past him, he then tried to block my path (I had no idea I was about to be pickpocketed) - I finally managed to get past him, put pur cases down and turned to ensure my fiancée was OK. At this point another crept behind me, swiped my wallet and the two of them jumped off the train just as the door was closing, by the time I noticed my wallet was missing the train had started moving and it was too late. This however did not ruin our Paris visit as the city, food and culture is too incredible to be ruined by this petty crime. I would recommend extreme caution to all tourists passing through Denfert-Rochereau, I believe we were targerted as we semi-smartly dressed, I was carrying two cases (so potentially an easier target). I recommend when travelling with cases in the area, place all items in the case and be constantly aware of who is around you. Hopefully this helps and others do not experience the same unfortunate event I have.

Stopped here on my way to Orly. Nice neighborhood, safe and sound. A lot of shopping and dining opportunities. Popular public square, next to the famous Catacombs museum. Easy access with public transportation.

Great suburb
May 2016
This area is great very convenient if you arrive at Gard du Nord or from Orly airport it is easily reached. The area has lots of shops and cafes and you can get into the centre of Paris easily on the metro. Would recommend it a real taste of residential Paris.

Nice neighbourhood
Mar. 2014 • Business
It is a very lovely neighbourhood, lots of restaurants, is close to Montparnasse Tower and Paris Catacombs museum.
Some history: The square is named after Pierre Denfert-Rochereau (French commander who organized the defense at the siege of Belfort during the Franco-Prussian War) dominated by the small version of the Lion of Belfort.

Scenic Square and Intereting Neighborhood
Apr. 2013 • Solo
The square and statue itself are visually attractive. The surrounding area is lively and "authentic".
Rue Daguerre is a lively neighborhood street with a nice feel to it. - Lots of neighborhood cafes, food stalls, and shops. Entrance to Catacombs is on square. Also has train and bus station just off square with busses to De Gaulle and suburbs

Introduced to Rue Daguerre by local neighbours, this is a street full of local fresh produce, fresh seafood good restaurants any time of day, essential ingredients for home catering and relaxed lical jazz venues.

Don't miss the local jazz/improv venue the Le Beliere! Local musicians weave in and around each orher making for a very enjoyable night! Great music and conversations with locals and travellers alike!

Walking distance to a number of metro transport stations, well worth seeking out, whether musiciam or patron!
