Beautiful private hotels, nice shops, very quiet place look like the heart of Paris even if Qatar is here!

I have been going to this island for 20 yrs. many times renting a flat. There is no other place I would stay nowadays. Seems safe and a bit isolated. Good place for families. Downside: walking is further to some places. Many cafes and shops.

This is an ancient quarter of Paris - it's where Paris grew from to become the modern city. It is isolated, and great to walk the streets without traffic trying to assassinate you.

Great place to walk, eat an ice cream, dip into little shops....mindlessly. The neighborhood is sweet and centrally located right in the center of the Seine. Nice little park for kids as well.

An interesting stroll between Notre Dame and the Marais. Quaint little shops. But the pistachio ice cream at the little shop just over the bridge from Notre Dame is the best I've ever had, and I'm a pistachio addict.

A great stroll to see "Paris at its Best" - easily combined with a vist to Notre Dame. Lots of restaurants - at the same time one of the most expensive / exquisite living quarters of this wonderful city.

This is just a beautiful neighborhood right in the center of the Seine. Walk around, then go to Berthillion for ice cream (but check their hours--even in peak tourist season, they are closed 2 days/week.) My favorite combo is raspberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream....More

On our last day we visited the Notre Dame and my daughter and walked over to the Ile Saint-Louis. Despite being the center of Paris, it is really quiet and not over run with tourist like Ile de Cite. While there, we found a Pharmacy...More

SO close to our hotel that it is easy to hop across the bridge if I want/need a few hours of 'me' shopping/browsing time while hubby rests! My personal faves are Nina Kendosa (reasonable clothes & lovely service), Sobral (resin 'statement' jewelry!, not for the...More

Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very
heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité,
sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of
Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the
site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held
before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic
Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the
Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island,
