I really like to walk in Paris. And this isle is one of my favourite places in the city of lights. With great brasseries and a perfect stroll after dinner, we can eat more and more.

This island is really a calm quite place in comparison with the larger neighbor. Some nice restaurants, small shops and a 1700th century church where someone was practicing on the church organ when i entered. Nice!

Charming, calm, really different from the rest of Paris. Fine hotels particuliers (Hotel de Lauzun, hotel de Jeu de Paume) makes its unique personality.

Don't miss Ile Saint-Louis with its beautiful buildings and quaint little shops. It's a pefect, small place to stroll, have a cafe au lait or a glass of wine and drool at the goods in the shops.

Île St. Louis is an elegant and affluent neighbourhood located on one of the 2 natural islands in the Seine. On a good day it is a quiet place to wander through the narrow one way streets. It is connected to the rest of paris by 4 bridges, and there is no metro, but a few buses. No matter -... More

This is just a short walk across the bridge behind Notre Dame. This island is charming and good to walk around. Do try some of the fancy chocolates and macrons here.

After seeing Notre Dame this is a short walk over a bridge to old neighbourhood. Walk up the street in the middle of the island to the end. Some good restaurants for lunch - just look for a Pudlo rating sticker - also try Berthenon ice bream just make sure you get it from their outlet as many other places... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
