We found this square walking along the Petit Champs looking for somewhere to eat lunch. This is a very nice area with nice restaurants nearby. In the middle is a statue of King XIV on a horse.

Place des Victoires used to be one of our shopping highlights but now most hig end shops have been replaced by cheaper versions.

The effort to make this traffic circle a place of harmonious architecture has not been totally successful. But this is an historic spot and surrounded by designer shops and worth a short visit.

Very nice 2 bedroom apartment with local people to speak and get a feeling as to how things are. Very safe location with very friendly people. My wife and I already met a lovely lady that speaks English and informed us of many local things. We shopped for groceries etc and are set up for a few days.

This small (for Paris standards) circular square is located near the Palais Royal at the intersection of six streets. At the center of the square there is an equestrian monument of King Louis XIV, dedicated to the series of treaties signed in the Dutch city of Nijmegen in 1678-1679. The square is elegant and charming with beautiful houses around it.

It's a diminutive place compared to others in paris but I had to hit there first to know where I was going! My daughter loved recognising it from a few movies too!

The square is pretty and connects to many streets with fashion designers stores. Some of these stores offer nice clothes; other are not as interesting.

The Place des Victoires is another lovely square in central Paris. Located close to Palais Royale and at the intersection of the 1e and 2e arrondissements, it is a nice place to visit. Recommended.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighbourhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighbourhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theatres, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
