This charming narrow thoroughfare runs east to west through the small Ile Saint Louis and serves as the island's main street. I find it a great place to stroll after visiting Notre Dame Cathedral, about a 5-minute walk away. Restaurants, cafes, boutiques, art galleries and small shops beckon.
I especially like Pylones, a French gift-store chain, which features bright colors and whimsical offerings. Here, two of the shops stand next to each other, doubling the possibilities for gifts to bring home. On my most recent trip, I bought a small red flashlight with a blue-and-gold flower pattern plus nail scissors featuring a thin woman design.
Many tourists come to the street for the much touted Berthillon ice cream. I used to be a big fan, but nearby Amorino, which serves delicious Italian gelato, has become my favorite place to go for a cold treat. I enjoy watching the server shape the gelato so it resembles a flower in the cone. Long lines form at both shops in the summer.
Sometimes I duck into Eglise St-Louis-en-I'lle. Built between 1664 and 1726, this church is dedicated to King Louis IX. I like to admire the ornate interior; and in the summer, it is a quiet place for a respite and to cool off.
The street has an almost village ambiance to it. But the stretch can sometimes be overrun with tourists. My last visit, however, occurred on a cold winter day when few people were out and about. Regardless of the season, evenings tend to become extremely quiet here. At that time, it seems hard to believe that Rue Saint-Louis-en-I'lle is in the center of Paris.

A walk down this street is well worth the time. It is 5 minutes walk from Notre Dame Cathedral. There is a great range of restaurants, fromageries, bakery and cake shops, wine shops and gift and clothing shops. No visit to this street would be complete without tasting Berthillion ice cream at their shop. (look out for the opening hours). We stayed in an apartment in this street and found it to be a great place to eat and walk especially after the day tourists have gone. It does get busy here on weekends. There are many old buildings in the street including the St Louis en l'Ile Chruch which was built in the 1600s,

Rue Saint Louis en l'Ile is a is a nice street that transects the island of St. Louis. The location is lined with art galleries, book shops, a handful of eateries and food shops as well as the historic Eglise Saint-Louis.
We visited in the morning to see the church, before the shops opened up. The street was rather quiet at that time of day, unlike visits in the past when Rue Saint Louis was rather full of tourists. In the end, Rue Saint Louis is expectedly charming, a neat place to spend a bit of time while sightseeing around the city.

This beautiful shop and café lined street running the length of Ile St. Louis is a wonderful part of historic, central Paris. I love the art galleries.

La rue Saint Louis en île is transformed at night and becomes Paris romantic. During the day, it is a bit hectic with all the tourists, shops and restaurants, but at night, beautiful and tranquil. Take a beautiful walk and see the City of Lights.

Super fun street on Ile Saint Louis not far from Notre Dame. Interesting and different tourist shops mixed in with "real" boulangeries, cheese shops, restaurants, and other cool stores. Also, LOTS of ice cream for sale, in addition to Berthillon. Don't be focused just on Berthillon and miss all the other great stores that are there. I really loved Les Fruits du Temps (cute gift shop) and also La Cure Gourmande (lovely cookie/candy store).

This ile is a little gem inside Paris and the streets on the iles provide some wonderful discoveries. Whether it be stores, restaurants or to just look at the outside of the most expensive apartments in Paris. All wonderful.

Well worth the time. A range of restaurants, fromageries, patisseries, wine shops and gift shops of all kinds can be found here. You must pick up a Berthillion ice cream cone to make your stroll complete.

Every night, I would cross over from Saint Michel Notre Dame to this tiny island to settle in small cafes where some of the most authentic cafes can be found here. In Paris, you have to have crepes and ice-cream, especially Berthillon. Jump in any cafes and you won't be disappointed. The original one, however, is Le Flore en L'Ile Berthillon Restaurant (situated right across Notre Dame).

Île Saint-Louis is the smaller of the two islands in the centre of Paris. It is located in the historical centre of the city and is a great place for a walk full of surprises. Stroll along the main road, Rue Saint-Louis en l'Île, or go around the island along the quays. Visitors can admire the numerous former private mansion houses from the 17th and 18th centuries. Foodies will love the delicious ice cream at Berthillon nice shops in all the streets and numerous quality restaurants some with a wonderful perspective on the River Seine

We have a trip scheduled at your resort in January 2015. Last winter we stayed at cayo cocoa and had a terrible time with sand fleas and Mosquitos. Are they an issue in your area?
