We stayed in an apartment in rue Cler for 4 nights and loved the hustle and bustle (not noisy) of narrow street. We stayed in the pedestrian section and had everything you could need at our doorstep - fromagerie, boulangeries, two small supermarkets, wine shops,...More

Great area in Paris. We stayed in this area because of reading about this in Rick Stevens book. Safe area, great food, clean and friendly people. Trust me the French are not ‘warm’ but this area is great for tourists. We would see the kids...More

I know Rick Steve's enjoys this street, that's probably because he can afford it. I found the shops boring and overpriced. There was nothing on this street but expensive grocery stores.

Rue Cler was very quiet near the end of August but we did manage to have a nice lunch there. It was not as lively or charming as I remembered.

We were staying at my friends Mariana's place right by rue Cler, so we went almost every evening. We had a few good meals and my husband tasted the mojitos in every bar.

This street was highly recommended by severe travel guide books as having a great street market and great eateries. First of all, no one could help us find it and secondly the street market was closed due to a holiday in France. We ended up...More

Lovely Parisian street with cafes, gourmet shops, and the best creperie around. Very nice shopkeepers, beautiful displays, nice atmosphere.

We'd heard so much from Rick Steves about this street that we couldn't wait to spend some time there. Because we were visiting in August, many of the local businesses were closed, which we expected. However, the entire street was much more touristy and expensive...More

A friend recommended that we visit this market street. We were there in mid August, which is Europe''s holiday time. Many shops were closed so we could not get quite as excited about the time there. They did have some nice bakeries.

There are shops and cafes all along the street. They display merchandise outside and inside. There are meat shops, cheese shops, bakeries etc.

Not at all. Rue Cler is about 3 block long and all the shops and cafes are open every day. Some open a little later on Sundays. Its just a neat little area to visit.

You will be just fine in that area shopping and speaking to the merchants in English. I would be sure to learn just a few words of French like Hello (Bonjour), thank you (merci), etc. I’ve always found that when they see you... More
