It was great fun being at the birthplace of Paris Cabaret. That said, there isn't any translation or explanation for non-French speakers.

This is a very unusual venue. Everyone sits along the wall at long tables and a group sits in the middle of the room and sings old French songs. Everyone is invited to sing along. The soloists and the pianist are wonderful. It's very funny...More

Unfriendly man at the entrance who would hardly tell or show you what it was about. If we wanted any information we had to pay 28 euro. We decided not to

This is a lovely old building which clearly has a lot of history. I did not realise the history until we have passed the building however it was so nice I took some photos. Certainly worth a look.

Go for the experience of immersing in old school Chanson. It's not about the food or drink (limited) but reliving Edith Piaff, sitting shoulder to shoulder with other like minded celebrants all night long. As we departed in the wee hours of the morning a...More

I wanted to hear traditional French chanson, I expected everything to be in French and the performers had wonderful voices very much like the performers in our local, volunteer, musicals. Many of the tunes were familiar but I wish we had pursued another venue that...More

This is a cabaret with a long history, a small and cosy place redolent with memories. The show features some top-class singers and performers and I was so happy to hear classic Parisian songs like 'Pigalle' and 'La Vie en Rose', as well as some...More

Small intimate venue. The real deal with 8 performers who keep you smiling. Such a treat to be part of the true Parisian entertainment!

In the early 1900s, Au Lapin Agile, a charming cabaret in Montmartre was the hangout spot for thinkers and artists like Picasso. “Au Lapin Agile” is also an expensive Picasso painting which interestingly was painted for the owner of the cabaret in exchange for free...More

Thanks for sharing your comment! There was back then a spontaneous solidarity and love for artistic expression and a table in the room was "reserved" for the artists who cheered up the audience with their own contribution with poems or songs, sometimes a sculpture or...More

Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and
styles which changes from one street to another. Ride
the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the
steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the
Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The
church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano
bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers
thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy

Oh yes. Wait until a good moment, preferably as the singers are changing positions or exiting or coming into the room. You will all be entering and leaving by the same entry way.

French families come often in mixed generations including toddlers to sing along and be immersed in French singing tradition. Non French speaking families come experience it sometimes.

Hi Gary, From memory Au Lapin Agile was a non smoking venue, you would choke if it was, as it is quite small. There was no smoking the evening we were there. Our group were all non smokers so appreciated the rule. Enjoy... More
