    Huge modern opera house
Attended the recent production of Turandot. Superb singing and orchestral playing and a modern stylish production. However, the actual staging and choreography were bizarre. I don't know if modern productions are the norm here but have this in mind if you prefer a traditional approach. Good acoustics and sightlines in the stalls.

Amongst the world's top opera houses
The Bastille (along with the Palais Garnier) offers top class opera with world class stars. The Bastille benefits from good sightlines from every seat, in my experience. Not every production will be to the casual opera attendee's taste, but that is true in all the top opera houses in the world. And this ranks among the top there. The prices are not astronomical and the whole experience is good value for money..

    Opéra de Paris Bastille
I fully agree with some of the opinions below - a very ugly building , both inside and outside , especially in comparison with the main historic one - Palais de Garnier . Even though the performances and the artists are amazing , the building really spoils the overall impression. It is especially embarrassing to see such a strange piece of architecture in France, which boasts so many buildings buildings .

One of the worst experiences of Opéra houses we’ve ever visited worldwide. Save time and money and skip Opéra Bastille. Doors close early, and nowhere does it state that the doors will close (I mean completely shut down) 10 minutes after the indicated time. If you were saying hi or bye to a friend at the door, they don’t care. If there was a fire on the road, they don’t care. Whatever it is that made you late, they don’t care. We encountered the rudest staff with “not my problem” attitude. When we tried to call the administration (there were some 15-20 of us locked out), the answer was “protocol numero 1475…” they were citing a protocol to us!!! A lady was told to return 30 minutes later only to be asked to return again in 1 hour. I only leave a review here because TripAdvisor has been our go-to for recommendations and so far has been a reliable source. As we started to leave the premises, we kept noticing the door staff kept opening the doors for people who were leaving the opera house. For the record it was June 6, 2024. Pictures of staff and people locked out have been posted to Google reviews.

My wife is in a wheelchair. She booked a ticket a couple of weeks ago and informed the company of her disability. She has been placed away from the seats and against a wall. Surely this is not the way we treat the handicapped in the year when the paraolympics are being held in Paris.
Complete fail on the part of the Bastille management.

A wonderful theatre - affordable ballet of the highest quality. I love the modern architecture and the sight lines inside are superb - rather like the National Theatre in London. Can highly recommend Don Quichotte - wonderful and uplifting - but am sure any ballet worth watching there.

The usual wonderful service and experience, considering that we are high-level founding patrons of the opera. Dunno how other people feel.

Opera Bastille is the new home of the Paris National Opera (replacing the more beautiful Palais Garnier as the location for most opera performances). Construction started in 1984 and it opened in 1989. It has a capacity of 2,745. I didn't go inside.

Not terribly fond of this building, but it is practical as it created a modern theater for classic art performances. The designers jammed a big building in the oddly shaped plot of land that was available. The theater crowds have spawned a popular night life area.
