The bateaux mouches keep on floating by, some with diners, others with cameras capturing all that passes by.The Seine brings trading barges and tourists a plenty as it passes many of the major sights. Our favourite boat starts by the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris, which takes you by Notre Dame towards the Arsenal, then doubles back towards... More

There need be no words written about the River Seine; the experiene leaves you breathless. It is quite possibly the most romantic walk I have ever taken, and I've taken millions. Don't miss this... and have a loving hand to hold.

We took a cruise on Bateaux Parisiens boat in the early evening. The trip was a great way to see the city and I highly recommend it for everyone visiting Paris

My husband and i did this late morning and was lovely. Very chilled out couple of hours seeing the sights and hearing the stories. You can have different packages we had the champagne on and it was lovely. Made you forget how cold it was outside. A must for every tourist.

Booked in advance from the UK with 'Your Guide' and moved straight from the Eiffel Tower onto the boat. The journey lasts about an hour or so and an audio handset explain each building of interest as well as commentary from the crew. The boats are quite comfortable and were warm on a very cold day, obviously cold on the... More

I walked from the eiffel tower to notre dame nust after dark and got some amaxing photos. There are enough people about so that you feel safe and enough to look at so you have plenty of stops along the way. You pass many of the main sights this way so its an alternative way to see the city.

We have done a Seine river cruise both in the day and night. I personally prefered the daytime cruise as it gives you a better chance to see things such as the architecture and even the sunset. Choose an appropriate amount of time to cruise based on your interests and what you want to see and how much you like... More

Runs through the center of Paris. In the evenings people/the locals sit along both sides of the river and drink, talk and eat!!! It is so inviting. A really beautiful place!

Cruised with Viking Cruises in early December from Paris down close to Normandy....Outstanding....beautiful scenery, quaint towns, many waterfowl, many locks, but very small amount of commercial traffic...& never saw anything resembling a private boat...never did figure that one out. Don't know what the quality is, but did see numerous fishermen. We docked each night near a town..with a bridge over... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
