We visited this church to see Napoleon's Tomb. There are several monuments and tombs as well. Napoleons tomb is massive and can be seen from above and below. The area below offers great sculptures of the history. Worth the time to view from below.

A nice gleaming dome within the museum seen even from far distance. It is high and well ornate Dome des Invalides. From its history, the Dome church became a military pantheon during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte. During the reign of King Louis-Philippe, the King...More

This is a must just to see the great architecture and one of the greatest parts of French and European history. Not only is Napoleon here, but there are also a lot of great military leaders from the WW1 era as well. Very cool place...More

The Eglise du Dome is a very interesting structure. This domed temple was my very first and absolutely accidental stop on my very first visit to Paris. I had traveled through Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. It was my first time traveling through France...More

At the back of the Army Museum complex is this shrine where Napoleon is buried. Also here is Generale Foch of WWI fame.

Somptous inside and hosts the tomb of Napoleon among other things. Access to it is slower than usual these days because of the security check on the premises. Other than that really nice.

The church itself is very impressive - large and elegant. Inside is wonderful with a dome with paintings on. In the middle is a large round circle where you look down to napoleons final resting place - it is something to behold. Around the circle...More

It appears the church with the grand dome was built to hold the tomb of Napoleon. In truth, the church was built in the late 1600s to early 1700s and the tomb was later excavated under the dome.

We bought a ticket for access to the whole of Les Invalides but, in truth, we only wanted to see the church and Napoleon's tomb. The architecture and decoration inside the church is stunning, from the beautiful mosaic flooring to the sculptures of the angels...More

You have to go out and around to the entrance in front. Well worth the walk though. There is also a nice snack bar and gift shop on the way around. Hope you enjoy the trip.
