The Braque frescoes "la danse" and Raoul Dufy's "la fée électricité " can ne s'en for free. Other temporary exhibitions are too small.

This sleek modern art deco palace was built for an International Fair in the 1930s. It reflects the architectural style of the times. Not particularly pretty but it works as an exhibit space and is particularly good for big special expos.

I was not so impressed because it's not an all tine thing, it's just the current exposition and i think that sucks. Anyway, i see beautiful things but i know that i won't see them never again.

Do yourself a favor. Take twenty euro and light it on fire. It will take as long to burn as your trip through this embarrassing display of modern "art". Disregard any photos you see in the TripAdvisor reviews. These works are no longer at the museum. The permanent collection consists of TWO (yes TWO) paintings by Matisse. There was only... More

I waked to the Museum in -1 degree weather from Place Vendome, it was a fantastically beautiful walk and totally worth it. I mainly went to see the Bernard Buffet Retrospective and was BLOWN AWAY at the sheer volume and range. I kept thinking we were coming to an end when i\d be pleasantly surprised that we were simply delving... More

Having been to Paris a few times I thought I'd try something different to the usual Louvre, Orsay et al. so tried the Museum of contemporary art which was surprisingly good. The permanent collection (free) was partially closed but have managed to see the two exhibitions on (Bernard Buffet and Karel Appel). Stunning to say the least! In the middle... More

Under normal circumstances, this place is a MUST SEE, with a stunning collection of glorious works. Right now, 99% of it is closed for works, which is NOT apparent until you show up and find that after Room 1, Rooms 2 to 20 are not to be visited! The Matisse Dance is still on show, and the Dufy Fée Electricité,... More

90 percent of the great permanent collection was blocked off for some reason. The rest of the free exhibit, while quite nice, really doesn't justify a trip here. Maybe they were renevating. Quite a disappointement.

Almost always has something great. Exhibits are well laid out and the shows are typically expansive. Great if you like Modern art.

A very nice museum with modern an contemporary art. Focus is mainly on French painting after the impressionists.

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the neighbourhood of grand and impressive Haussmann-designed apartments and buildings. National museums overlook the Eiffel Tower and embassies fill the avenues and streets. Locals head to the butcher, florist, or bakery on their daily rounds amidst luxury and splendour, all with a view over Paris and its most famous tower. Snuggled in between the grand buildings are small art galleries and homes of historical significance. With a rich legacy from 19th century politics, art, and architecture, you can’t help but be reminded of the belle époque, the Universal Exhibitions and the nobility that have frequented and shaped these streets.
