Nice area
Oct. 2019
Square Louise Michel is a large green area in front of Sacre Coeur Basilica. It has plenty of space to sit and lie down, walk and even run. The only problem is it is at a slope so to get anywhere on it, particularly to the top, where Sacre Coeur basilica is, you either have to walk the numerous steps, or be lazy and catch the funicular. On the way up you will love the water features, the beautiful flower beds and other features of the Montmartre hill.

The irony of the Paris Council's renaming policy.
Oct. 2019
Despite the opposition of the Parisians, the Catholic Church and reactionaries like Thiers pushed through the construction of the Sacre Coeur, which, however, was delayed until the next war. Opponents of the construction retaliated by naming the square on the slope of Montmartre leading to the Basilica after the artist Alfred Willett, who shouted at the consecration of the Church, which lasted until 1919, "Long live the devil!" Almost a century later, Willet's opponents succeeded in renaming the square in 2004, citing Willet's anti-Semitic statements. However, it did not become easier for them. The Paris Council named this square on the hillside after Louise Michel, a revolutionary, feminist, active figure of the Paris commune, for whose sins the Sacre Coeur was erected on Montmartre. the French can be very ironic...

Steep steps

This park is terraced and lies below the Basilica of Sacro Coeur and gives good views. There is a carousel and a funicular and toilets close by. Worthy of a stop before or after the climb.

Square Louise Michel
Dec. 2019 • Family
The Square Louise Michel is a steep green area that reaches the monumental church of Sacré-Cœur perched atop the Hill of Montmartre. The square consists of a green area extending upwards to the top of the hill in a series of terraces with lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, and trees.

The 222 steps that lead up to the top can be avoided by walking on one of the gently sloping paths that run alongside the garden. The square offers fantastic views of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and the roofs of Paris.

Towards the top of the park under rue du Cardinal Dubois is a monumental fountain dedicated to the Ocean gods. At the bottom of the square, not far from the funicular station, is a popular merry-go-round.

Nice walk and photo taking views.

One of iconic Paris views
Dec. 2019
This square is in fact a garden between the base and top of Monmartre hill. It's a famous tourist spot with amazing city views and fountains along the way.
Steps leading up to Sacre Coeur church are often occupied by numerous tourists enjoying the views and having a rest.
The only downside are many souvenir sellers, pretty annoying, just ignore them.

Would be nice except for the swathes of men lurking about.

Walking through the park this afternoon (16:30), a gangle of men were blocking the path to go up into the park. As I tried to walk through with my daughter, one grabbed my wrist and wouldn’t let go-trying to do that bracelet scam. I repeatedly said no and tried to pull away but he wouldn’t let go. My daughter got scared and I got angry. Wtf!? I guess just be ready to do some Judo and definitely wouldn’t recommend it at night. Not sure what real deal is about that park but it was all bad vibes this evening.

Beautiful, but beware of scams
Nov. 2019 • Couples
Beautiful park area. Unfortunately when visited on an early Sunday evening at 18 pm a group of men suddenly grapped my hand and started to make a braclet with colourful strings. When saying no, they said it wouldn't cost a thing, even when I tried to insist for many times, that I'm not interested. They blocked my way to my fiancée, to whom they told I wasn't willing to pay. They were sweet talking to me, asking my name, saying they are friendly people. They skammed my fiancée 10 €. Be wary of this.

Named for an Historic Figure

This big green space is named for a famous person from the Commune period. Interesting that has happened. It's in front of the big church that I am not that fond of. Some great views of the city

Big Square

This square is at the bottom of the hill below the church. It’s crowded but you can get good pictures from here. A nice spot.
