Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This arched stone bridge is the third oldest one in Paris. It's name refers to Louis XIV who financed its construction. The name also reflects its proximity to Louvre palace.
Today it's a fastest link for art lovers visiting both, Louvre and Orsay museums.
Nice views of both of them from the middle.

It is the third oldest bridge in Paris, after the Pont Neuf and the Pont Marie on the Isle of Saint-Louis. It was built already under Louis XIV in 1689. The main passions were boiling during the revolution when General Bonaparte installed cannons here to protect the Tuileries Palace from royalists. At the same time, the bridge became the Pont Nacional. After Bonaparte ceased to be a general and became an emperor, the bridge was renamed the Tuileries. After the restoration, the bridge became Royal again. After that, the French, tired of renaming, took up more serious matters and demolished the Tuileries Palace and abolished the monarchy in principle. But the Royal Bridge was left...

PROS
* Famous bridge linking the Musee d'Orsay with the Musee de Louvre
* It provides fantastic photo opportunities
* It is an arched stone bridge that is historical as dating from the 1600s

CONS
* Simple and not elaborate nor glamourous

"I VISITED THIS PLACE"
... after visiting the Musee d'Orsay, as I walked through part of the Tuilleries at night and then past the Louvre and returned to my lodging in Le Marais. The bridge at night was quiet and gorgeous and the views were near-phenomenal.

WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
It is free to walk across a bridge

WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
Sure- maybe during the day

ADVICE
* This is the main pathway between the two world- famous world- class museums, so be sure to use it as you visit both of them

We crossed over this bridge and we went under this bridge a number of times on the Batobus (see my review of that). It's a nice and stately bridge which honored the king. Today, as we pass under, there are a number of multi colored red directional signs.

For sure that---

An old bridge over the river connecting the area around the Louvre to the 6th Arrondisement and some big government buildings. Traffic but you can walk across it.

An attractive bridge that links up the Louvre area to the Left Bank. Take a walk across it, linger, take a few photos of the river and enjoy the views and breezes.

Our cabbie took us across this bridge fairly late at night and the views were gorgeous, of the river and both banks. This is in the center of town, the Louvre, Ile de la Cite, other bridges, and everything was lit up, sparkling!

Spotted this whilst we were on our hop on hop off tour of Paris, all the bridges are different which makes them easy to identify, this one notably for its "hump" and number of arches.

This stone bridge spanning the Seine, alongside the edge of the Louvre, gets its name from the fact, that King Louis XIV financed the project hence Pont Royal. The humpback in the middle makes it different to it cousins up and down the river, making it an historical monument.
