Took the Petit train with a stop at Place d'austerlitz and the great monument of Napoleon A massive structure and a slightly challenging climb up the steps but worth it It's as if Napoloeon is watching over Ajaccio

Everyone visiting Ajaccio should make the effort and visit the Place d'Austerlitz with the striking statue of Napoleon gazing over the city. It is easily reached on foot or by the Petit Train d'Ajaccio

This is an interesting memorial to Napoleon. He is standing atop of pyramid-like structure, looking out over the city. On the fronts of the steps leading to the top, there can be seen some of his most important victories. One interesting thing; Napoleon is usually pictured with his right hand inside his jacket but here it is his left placed... More

The square is a small park with the huge monument, designed as a granite step pyramid, dedicated to Napoleon’s achievements (not only military ones). His statue, showing him in his famous military uniform, stands at the top of the stairs and the monument itself is engraved with the names of his battles and the most important civil achievements.

Monument to the Battle of Austerlitz with statue of Napoleon atop a tall stairway – good views from the top. Some 2km and 30 minutes walk west out Ajaccio centre along Cours Gandavel. Best visited via the Petit Train (from Place Foch).

It is an interesting monument to the Battle of Austerlitz and there are pleasant views out to sea. It can be reached by walking from down town - interesting street and rakes about 30 mins.

Visited this briefly on the Petit Train tour. Nothing particularly spectacular but worth a quick view to tick the box as Ajaccio isn't loaded with places to see.

This town is filled with memorials to Napoleon and this monument atop a tall stairway is OK to visit but not really worth a special trip. Napoleon's statue is actually dwarfed by the stairway, making him seem even smaller than he was in real life.
