My wife and I took the La Petit train to go around the city as we were on TUI cruise holiday and we had only few hours to explore it. We decided to do the longer run, 1.5 hours, for 10 Euros and enjoyed the...More
Just got back from a cruise and stay holiday and one of the ports of call was Ajaccio. Rather than go on a ‘organised’ trip we did our own thing part of which was a trip on the mini train. Whilst it was quite cheap...More
Having taken this train ride, I read some of the TripAdvisor comments and wondered if we were talking about the same thing! It was 10 Euro each for the second option, the longer trip of one and a half hours. The prerecorded commentary was in...More
We took the train as in the hot weather is seemed to be a good idea to discover the town this way. 1,5 hours (the longer tour) with 2x 15 minutes stops at the Napoleon monument, and at the and of the Promenades en mer...More

Took this sightseeing train to get a quick tour of Ajaccio and surrounding area.

As other reviewers have noted, the service has two distinct offerings and we took the shorter ‘city’ tour at €7 pp.
Often such tours deliver a great introduction to a town to assist with your bearings.

This train can comfortably seat two people in a row. Three will work. But the squeeze 4 in each row making it uncomfortable for all and the two in the middle can see nothing. Save yourself the discomfort. Not worth it

You get your tickets on the train. Ships dock right in the town and all the interesting sights are nearby. Walk down the quay, turn left at the promenade and the train(s) can be found in a tree lined square no more than 100 metres from the ship. It saves you the uphill walk to the Napoleon monument (impressive) and then takes you along the coast. On returning to the square the ship's map will show everything of historical interest to be within a very short flat walking distance. A relaxing day in Ajaccio.

We travelled on this train with my 85 yr old mother in law. Although she is mobile, she cannot walk any great distances. She thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a high step up onto the carriage but there is plenty of things to hold onto and people will always help too. If your mum does not want to get off the train once she is on, I would advise her having a right hand seat, as entry/exit is only from the left hand side. The further forward you can get is better, as the rear carriage tends to sway around on the traffic islands.
Have a great trip :)
