A tougher hike than both Everest Base Camp and Inca trail and nearly as beautiful. I would say that half of it is as easy as Everest and Inca. The other half is the most interesting part were it sometimes can be really difficult. It...More

Done Vizzavona to Calenzana in August 2015. Stunning scenery, although probably a bit too hot in August. Toughest walk I've done so far, but well worth the pain. You need a good level of hill fitness to do the GR20. There are some sections where...More

There is no adequate way to describe the GR20. It is a gruelling trail, so make sure you train for it. But it is also breathtakingly beautiful!

I did northern half of the GR20 from Calenzana to Vizzavona in July with some friends, the route was a lot harder than we had ever anticipated, I would be lying if I said it was enjoyable but it was a good sense of achievement...More

We walked the GR20 North (Calenzana to Vizzavona) in early June 2016. The time was excellent because it was not too hot and just a little snow - and the cabins/campingplaces were not too croweded. Lessons learned - own and others experiences: Always bring enough...More

I did first half of gr20 5 years ago. Due to the increasing popularity of the route I have found that to finish the route you now have to pre book all your camp site spaces or refuge bookings. This in itself is nonsensical as...More

I did the trail from south to north using a guide and a group. I went through a local agency (Allibert Trekking). It's an intense hike and not your typical 2-3 days hike in the woods. It's mostly technical and requires a good level of...More

It is quite some time since I have visited Corse and GR20 trail but it was one of the best experiences I had. The trail leads you from Alpine like mountain rages to beautifull valleys filled with life, then across fields and pastures with almost...More

Take a SMALL rucksack (no, smaller than that), 1 pair of boots you don't mind destroying, a camera, lots of euros and a bivvy bag.

I have used exodus travel at least a dozen times and have never been disappointed. You will have a first rate guide, superb logistical support, and a well-honed itinerary. Needless to say, it is not exactly cheap ...but, as... More

You don't need one, IMO. The route is well marked and there will be hundreds of people around. Just do a bit of research on the web and book the flights.

Hi Mike and others Thanks for your review. I have a question about the heat. How bad was it. My husband and I (both in our 50's) are considering it for July 2016. I see on videos people wearing jackets but read that the day heat it brutal. Can you comment? Did hikes start early like 6am and finish by early afternoon to escape the heat or are you committed to be hiking a 10 hour day thus no relief?
