Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Know before you go. Just because you make the effort to see this place, doesn't mean you will be able to do so.
On Sunday, I walked to Le Verguer. Because of their odd hours, they were closed. They are closed completely on Mondays.
On my second walk over we arrived at re-opening time at 2PM. The lady told us that the only way to see the museum was by guided tour. They were Just starting one in French but there would not be one in English for an hour. She asked us to leave and come back then. By now, it was raining.
An hour later,n our third walk over, it began to sleet heavily. When we arrived, the same lady said sorry, it's cash only, no credit cards accepted. She invited us to go bock out in the cold wet weather and visit an ATM before she would deal with us.
After 3 cold wet trips on foot to see what used to be Hugues Krafft's house. We decided we had wasted enough time and energy on this place and that there were plenty of other things to see and do in Reims. I still have not seen the house.
If you want to see this place, be sure that you know when they're open, that you know when there's a tour in your language and know that they don't take anything but cold hard cash.

Our guide Sandrine gave us a personally conducted tour in very good English and brought this hidden gem to life for us. She not only explained the history of the building to us but also gave us a wonderful insight into the history of Reims and the life of Hugh Kraftt.
There is much to marvel at in the house especially the way in which Kraftt incorporated treasures from Reims and the local area as well as those brought back from his many travels abroad.

I bought a two day tourist pass for Reims today.
This museum I arrived at last, for a 4pm guided tour ( no individual visits available). I knew nothing more than 'a rich collection of art and furniture collected by Hugues Krafft at the beginning of the 20thC'
I left after the two hour tour wanting another 2 hours.
Words cannot describe the magnificent collection and the magnifique tour guide who spoke both french and English to the 4 of us on the tour. (Understanding a little french, o believe she included everything equally in both languages.)
Vast knowledge in a simply wonderful amazing eclectic international collection.
Don't tell anybody. Keep this one to yourself.
The garden: it's totally neglected, and do not let this put you off continuing. The tour starts here and only gets better and better as you go.
Rating: one of the best tours I have been on, ever. I want more more more !!!

This fascinating little museum was like no other I've visited: a slice of Reims history across the centuries - except the different time elements were often combined within the same room - all brought together by the enthusiastic tour guide, skilfully switching between French and (fluent) English and steering us through the house so that everyone had a chance to view the key centrepieces. You felt like you were continually shuttling backwards then forwards in time, but that didn't take away from the quality of the individual pieces and the combined settings.
A superb collection, and I hope the museum gets enough funding to start further restoration work outside.

The house belonged to a rich philanthropic business man in the 1900 s. who amassed a wonderful collection of art and ceramics in a beautifully restored 400 year old house. He willed it all to an historic foundation. Amazing , the English guided tour was well one

Badly organized, they have a roomful of a Durer engravings and some guided tours skip the Durer room. The don’t even tell you before. So ask explicitly to see the Durers, if that’s you main target. The house and the art collection are so-so, and can be skipped without regrets

I found this museum by accident when I paused to look at the garden and I’m so glad that I did! Don’t be deterred by the fact that you need to ring the doorbell to enter. The tour was extremely interesting and I learnt a lot about the city’s history. The guide was dynamic and fun. My tour was done in French however there was the option to have it in English as well.
The full tarif was €5 and students get in for €1. A bargain!

We almost bypassed this small, private museum and only stopped because we got a glimpse into the garden. We needed to read the note by the door and ring the bell for admission. Once inside, we were treated to a thoroughly interesting tour of a house and the interesting and eccentric collections it contains. The house was destroyed during World War I but restored to its earlier condition by its owner, who invested a huge amount of his personal fortune in remaking the place. The kitchen is particularly interesting, complete with a collection on copper pans and a 210-set service of Meissen china. The museum is also home to an amazing collection of Durer woodcuts and engravings; you can get so close enough to really appreciate every cut and be humbled by the genius. .

Passing by you might not notice this is a real museum... you even have to ring a bell before entering.
Once the tour starts, the guide reveals the life of one of the richest persons in Reims, although the man has already passed away. On his many trips around the world, he collected quite some things, and using these collections, the guide reveals to you the history of Reims. It was very interesting and weird at the same time, because you are really shown around in the house of someone. Although this is a very curious museum, it also shows you that Reims is not good at keeping its history close... many historical things are not to bee seen anymore, which is a pity.
