Not sure what i was expecting really, but not this! The caves are nothing out of this world and it will literally take about 5 minutes to walk around. I found it a bit boring. However we had done another cave just before this one and the wine here was definitely nicer in my opinion. The wine tasting was good... More

This was the first winery we went to in Chinon, so there was a little bias, because before going there we had only had American wines. The first words literally out of my mouth was "Wow, this blows American wines out of the water." They were also very friendly and you can choose to taste whichever ones. Of the 6... More

Stumbled upon the Caves Plouzeau while exploring Chinon. The caves goes far into the side of a hill. There are wine barrels stored along the side of the cave as it you walk further in. There are bottles stored in big crates near the end and were capped which looked beer bottle caps. It was quite interesting to see how... More

We visited this cave about 20 years ago and loved the wine, the atmosphere and the welcome we were given. Each year returning from summer holidays further south we have tried to visit , however as it is always a Sunday, the cave was closed. Today we tried again, just on the off chance as we had stayed locally. Yippee!!!... More

Welcoming staff, interesting troglodyte cellars, and some good wines as well. Recommended for tourists looking to understand the importance of wine in the local culture. Buy the Chapelle Chinon rouge, and also the Touraine rosé. If you buy more than you can carry, there is a bicycle with little trailer available on loan to get you back to your car... More

Nice visit at the caves Plouzeau. Wine tasting is free even if you dont buy a bottle of wine. But after tasting the wine....you will buy a few bottles ;)

What a magical experience! Not expecting to go wine tasting in a cave we took advice from a local wine shop to go taste here as they had delicious wines. So when we arrived and found the tasting room was located inside of a cave we were already sold! The wine was also delicious! They were very friendly and generous... More

A very interesting location, very atmospheric. The contrast of the cool interior after the humidity of being outside was welcome. We tried and bought soem wine, though there was no heavy selling pressure.
