We parked on the east side of the Cathedral just outside the L'Eure river. The parking on this street under the trees 🌲 was free for 2 hours. Although, you have to get a ticket and place it on your dash inside your windshield. As...More

After our visit to the cathedral we followed the "Tourist Route" around the old medieval part of Chartres, complete with wooden timbered houses and cobbled streets, some very narrow. The walk along by the river was enjoyable.

We meandered through these streets in spring sunshine. It is simply beautiful. Quiet and dare I say it, picture perfect. This town is a must for anyone visiting the region. I love this place and will definitely be going back.

Beautiful cobblestoned streets take you around the beautiful Chartres historical area, quaint olde bridges, half-timbered houses, tasty eateries, fun bars and coffee shoppes. Many gorgeous photos ops at every time...and the pièce a resistance, the Chartres Cathedral.

The historical quarters of Chartres are an absolute must-see if you visit the town. However, pay attention on where you step (lottttts of doggy pies out there)

Easy to find, just follow the tower of the Cathedral and the historic preservation area is right around it. It's very picturesque and pretty, lovely to walk around and there are many shops selling pictures of the local lanscape around.

We followed the "tourist trail" and saw the best of the medieval city. Not too strenuous, very photogenic, and perfect when the sun shone. the river scenes are so attractive.

Such a simple, lovely day trip from Paris! The Cathedral is, rightfully, famed and there is plenty to see and do without feeling overwhelmed. A beautiful, authentic medieval town.

The Cathedral is about a 15-20 minute walk. With the winding streets make sure you have a good map. Also you will soon see the spires of the Cathedral and can follow that too. The historic preservation area is past the... More
