The Royal Chateau of Blois is your gateway into the Val de Loire. The Royal Chateau of Blois is the first important place to discover as you come from Paris. It is a true synthesis of the art and history of the Loire Valley chateaux, and makes it an ideal introduction for your visit. The rich architecture of the four different wings echoes the diversity of styles of the many chateaux built in the Loire Valley from the Middle Ages to the 17th Century.

Impressive light show. Audio guide is free if you bring your own earbuds or headphones, 2 Euro to buy a set there. The audio guide translates the story for you during the show. We split 2 earbuds between the four of us as you really only need one ear for translation.

It is really nice and interesting to visit and to leran about so many events in French history happened here. Evening sound and light show in the yard of the castle is worth to visit as well, but you neef to bring your own headphones to connect to the translation audioguide.

Visit this place and see the city and chateau as I did many years ago long before the range of calendar dates suitable for indicating the time of my visit became available for completing this review. Many years ago I was taking my first extended visit of France and I wanted to lead my wanderings far from Paris and get... More

From the end of the Middle Ages to the end of the wars of religions ... a rich and exciting story, events happened there ... you can relive them in the same places, with a good guide (Anais by example). Architecture, a model of the genre, 4 well-characterized epochs ... the happiness of rebirth ... imagine François 1er, this king... More

Grand way to see architecture through the royal ages. But perhaps my favorite part was the fleur-de-lis motif on the walls, the pillars, the tiles--even door handles. That little symbol is everywhere, and it's like an easy treasure hunt fo keep finding it.

There are hundreds of Chateaux in the Loire Valley from the huge like Chambord to the tiny like the dozens of small demeures scattered around. So what are the bullet point features of Blois? It is quite big. Less than 2 hours for a visit would be an injustice, 3 hours can easily be swallowed up. Beyond that and my... More

The castle is a well preserved attraction, although neither as big nor as beautiful as other castles in the Loire valley. Its most renowned attraction -the spiral staircase - is indeed an architectural masterpiece. The gardens of the castle are absolutely gorgeous.

It's a nice and well kept chateau, by any measure. Gorgeous vistas and wonderful gardens. It's one of the smaller ones in the region, but don't let that prevent you from visiting. It still has plenty of royal flavor, excess and flamboyance. However one of the unexpected attraction was seeing Leonardo Da Vinci's tomb in the small chapel by the... More

The castle at Blois was a great jumping-off point for the Loire Valley. Had we not started there, I'm not sure we would have fully understood how the entire region came to be. We had an english-speaking guide who was amazing... we learned so much about the various centuries of royalty at the castle and the constant fight for power.... More
