The treasure of the museum lives in its spectacular collection. Indeed, the museum houses an impressive collection of vehicules of all kinds, including the oldest specimens which date from the early twentieth century: cars, lorries, motorcycles, bicycles, tractors, farm equipment, and even aircrafts, boats, tanks, and guns from World War II. You can also discover unique models such as the "Boutin" or "Benjamin" motorcycles or the type XI monoplane built by Blériot to perform his channel crossing. The museum also houses impressive machines such as the "Fountain" turbine which drove the mechanism of the huge waterwheel of the old mill, located inside the museum. Some of the mechanisms of these machines are still in operating today. Numerous knives and firearms can be found as well as several unusual items like unique wax heads of condemned people, or a mobile guillotine dating from the Revolution

In a very attractive part of the world with many chateaux, gardens and towns to explore, this is such a change. It appeals to children of all ages, say 2 to 99 years, and anyone who has even a passing interest in machinery of any kind. Much of it is varied farm and industrial equipment, some with strange stories of... More

This is simply an amazing museum. To think Maurice collected 3000 items over 60 years and here they are for all of us to see. As someone interested in classic ares and steam machines this was right up my steet. Even my wife who was quite happy to let me get on with it but was actually very interested as... More

This is a perfect museum for people who are interested in veichles. There are all different types of veichles so there is something for everything. The museum is very large - 1km when walking all away around. There are signs in French, English and German explaining about the collection (this is only inside). There are some rare pieces too. Very... More

Myself husband and 2 sons visited here while in France on our holiday, we had a great afternoon looking at all of the cars, tractors and other machinery. It was set out very unusually but had a nice easy flow and accessible with a pushchair. Once we looked around we had a couple of coffees and crepes in the lovely... More

Wow! We've visited some pretty good museums but this one is one of the best. If you have the slightest interest in things mechanical this is for you! Trains, tractors, cars, bikes, guns, and lots lots more, even a portable guillotene. A must see!

If you are in this area you should go and visit this museum. I am coming in Touraine since several years, and I don t understand why I have not visited it before... Btw, a lot of different things mixed together, and a lot of stories around each objects. Go and support this private initiative.

We were recommended by our b&b hosts to visit this museum and this truly was a wonderful recommendation. It's a one of a kind museum, never saw one like this before. Big machinery, old tractors, trucks, cars, planes, weapons,... It's a mix of all kinds of objects and I'm sure anyone can find something they like in it. The big... More

This is one of the best collections I have ever seen. It's extremely well set out and the audio guide is very well spoken and worth the 1 euro. I was amazed at the collection that Maurice Dufresne had collected, a very clever man who seemed to buy as much as he could knowing one day it would please many.... More

From the available brochures I had no idea this would be such a fascinating and fabulous museum. Well done to Maurice Dufresne, you've left a truly amazing legacy. Most of the exhibits have got an English translation and an audio guide is available for 1 euro. Allow up to three hours if you want to see everything. Really nice cafe,... More
