A pleasant sanctuary

What an enjoyable place to stroll around. Nothing sensational, but in the heat of summer it must be a very refreshing haven.

If you plan on visiting Rennes any time soon and your a plant lover like me, I recommend you take a couple hours to visit the Parc du Thabor. Originally created by benedictine monks it boasts a wide variety of plants from all over the world, some 3,000 species of plants and roses even some giant Sequoia trees hailing from... More

Nice and clean park with wide pathways for an afternoon stroll. Well landscaped grounds including a pretty rose garden with dozens of varieties, plenty of shade trees and flowering shrubery...grab a baquette, some jambon and fromage and have a picnic lunch, don't forger the vin.

We thought this was just about the nicest part of Rennes. We were lucky enough to be there when the roses were in full bloom and they were very nice.

The Parc du Thabor is one of the most beautiful gardens in France. It opens at 7:30am and closes at 6:30pm. It spreads out over 10 hectares. There is a romantic and elegant atmosphere there. it boasts French-style gardens, an English-style park, a cave and an impressive rose garden (over 2,000 varieties). During the week-ends it is particularly crowded. Do... More

A beautiful park with nice paths and flowers. Well worth seeing - perhaps our favorite part of Rennes.

The paths are wide and everything is well maintained. There are several specific areas that specialize in a type of plant which makes it more interesting.

It was a hot day so we trotted off to the Gardens, greeted by a lovely water feature which dropped down via several pools, much to the delight of our dog who had a lovely paddle. The Gardens are a delight, park land lower down with an Orangerie up the top, next to the Cafe/Restaurant, but the highlights are the... More
