Really enjoyable visit. The new control’s for entry we’re in place which perhaps reduced the number of visitors but maybe this was an advantage. The numerous tanks were very well presented and digital displays gave a lot of information on the Marine résidents.
The larger animals, particularly the turtles apparently arrived following rescue and some are released when fully recovered. The shark tank was the most popular with the family and indeed there were many viewing windows at different levels that allowed a full appreciation.
Looking at some of the round tanks with the mask made some of us sea sick which perhaps pushed us around faster than we would have otherwise.
The building itself is a beautiful work of Art Deco and the surroundings will occupy a good bit of time as well.

This aquarium is based in an interesting building and you work your way up through 4 floors of exhibits. There are a range of tanks based on around temperate, fresh and tropical waters and most information is available in English. We particularly liked the display of jelly fish and of course the shark tank at the end. There was a separate exhibition on whaling which was not translated. You have to wear face masks at all times and when we visited in the afternoon it wasn't too busy so you could get some good photos.

An average experience with huge queues and hordes of people. Pleasant staff . Sadly very little translated into English in the museum area which was a shame because we would have liked to have an understanding of Biarritz maritime history. Very expensive at €65 for a family of 5 with a teen and 4 year old. I would save your money and go to the beach

Excellent way to enjoy a few hours inside on a very cold windy April day. We enjoyed all of the displays, particularly all of the different tropical fish displays. The explanations were posted in French and English (and other languages too), and we were free to wander through the exhibits at our own pace. It was very wheelchair friendly and we had no barriers and no need to ask for help along the way. The displays were interesting and there was an amazing assortment of species from around the world and all climates.

The aquarium is worth visiting if you are in Biarritz.
The aquarium is built into a hill side, and it gives a very natural feeling when you are in the building.
There are different levels for each exhibitions, and the sea lion feeding is on the top.
The aquarium is high class exhibition - the turtle part is amazing, the shark tank and ray tank are trully mesmerising.
The middle of the building is filled with skeletons and real life size animals - very visual.
The explorer part, the whale hunting exhibition are really informative, the ship models are very precise and detailed.
It is a great program on a rainy day - but even if it is sunny, well worth visitning.
Recommended for everyone, from early ages.

The aquarium is quite famous in Europe so the expectations were high. All considered the expositions are good. The whaling and fishery history exposition at the 2* floor is very interesting and the main tank (the one with the sharks and eagle rays) is nice, although a little overcrowded considering the volume is not huge. Some fish had some skeletal anomalies but is pretty normal for big animals in exposition-oriented rather than animal welfare-oriented structures. However I give it a 2 because of the overcrowding of people. It seemed there is no control at all of the number of people entering the aquarium, resulting in the impossibility of maintaining the safety distance. Full of kids without mask (not deterring to newborns) running around, climbing the benches and rolling on the ground. 2 hours in the aquarium and we didn’t see a single staff member around enforcing the regulations. Never again, at least until Covid is gone.

Located in a stunning building perched on the clifftop. €15 entry per head which is fair. Smaller than expected tanks of marine life but nice display, amazing selection, beautiful colours. Seals were super cute - those dark eyes! The final display with the sharks, groupers & barracudas et al was beautiful. Only downside is that the acoustics are awful so noise bounces off all the surfaces...

Very worth the visit , lots of nice opportunities to view the sea life in under water glass tunnels and caves. There is also a splendid exhibition of the mammals skeletons arranged in size. The only down side is that all the information given is in French so all the cinema experiences were only fun to watch not to listen too. It seems like they are not expecting foreign visitors.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the aquarium this afternoon; there’s plenty to see and enjoy, the space is clean and explanations are clear and educative. Something to be aware of is that there’s no parking on the premises so you’ll have to walk to the aquarium, the closest spot we could find was a few hundred metres away. This place is well worth a visit - excellent.
