The waterfront between the Pont de Pierre and the new Chaban-Delmas bridge has been finely restored beyond its original intensive maritime trading quais to the modern, dynamic, bustling docks area which have transformed the Places to Visit in Bordeaux. From the magnificent stone façades to the popular restaurants and brasseries, the iconic Miroir d'Eau and the "must do" walkway along... More

Yes, the makeover of this area has worked well. Though the Quai's shops are not all occupied, it has a nicely bustling air, with shops, cafes, skateboarding, joggers, dogwalkers and peoplewatching. There is a chocolate shop with varieties I have not come across before and a shop selling unusual Japanese teas. Both worth checking out. Other stores seemed to be... More

We had an apartment on Abbe de l'Epee for 3 days (booked on line great location, facilities - recommended). Driving into Bordeaux was frustrating as it's very busy with cars, buses, trams (lots of thm & they have priority), pedestrians and the ever present bicycles, there was also road works & our GPS always takes us via the old town,... Knowing how it were managed and business made is an amazing learning about base concepts along the history. Wine trading history is something that impress me a lot.

The Quai is really very nice, and there are many special events held along this area. A few times per year, an historic replica sailing ship will arrive for a visit. This is special.

The Garonne River and Bordeaux's linear port may no longer be the city's trade and commerce lifeblood, but they are still the beating heart. That is why this port has been the recipient of significant time and money in successful urban renewal. The happy and busy pedestrian use of its brand new, spare and sophisticated 4.5 km. Riverwalk is testament... More

We were at the port for the arrival of a replica square rigged ship from it's maiden voyage. The cannons were fired and it just enhanced our experience at this beautiful port.

Elegantly designed, this historic part of Bordeaux is justifiably granted World Heritage Site status. We were lucky to catch this mood, and see why it's called the Port of the Moon :)

Cruise stopped here for two days. Lovely place. Steeped in history and the wine trade. Tucked halfway up an otherwise homely river, Bordeaux is a tourist's gem - not too crowded, plenty to do and see.
