There no reason to spend time by visiting the specific market. Is too small and dirty. Of course, in case you have never visited something like that it will be a good first experience for you.

For foreigners a visit to the Marche des Capucins will be extremely interesting. Not only for an insight of the local culture but also for the variety of shops, the cafes and the restaurants. If you wish you can do your errands but you can just enjoy the scenes from a cafe or a restaurant. For local people, le Marché... More

We visited the Marche des Capucins on a Saturday, when it was in full swing, with all the Bordelaise doing their weekend shopping. It is a lively, colourful market with an amazing variety of fruits, vegetables, meats and charcuterie, breads, pastries, cheeses, spices, flowers and cafes. One could spend hours here. There are some outdoor stalls as well with clothing... More

A great spot. We enjoyed this market twice. The fruit and produce were fresh, as well the baked goods. We enjoyed cured meats, and some nice soft cheeses from here too. All prices were really good.

This major market in Bordeaux is open in the mornings and is well worth a visit. You can buy almost any kind of fresh food and it's an adventure to see what special item you can locate. Good Stop!

We visited this market several times last year, but I appreciate it more and like it a lot more this year. Not at all a glitzy upscale market, more approachable and affordable than some Les Halles in other urban centres. Great place for lunch....be sure to try Chez Jean Mi. Quiet and somewhat forlorn and subdued on Tuesdays, but by... More

We visited 10:00 Wednesday in September. It was sad. More than half the stalls shut, and those that were open with sad displays of limited stock. No bread stall. Not worth visiting, for us.

We enjoy walking through the market and buying delicious food and wine for very reasonable prices. The oysters we ate were excellent.

Great to see the inner workings of the market where Bordeaux's chefs buy their produce. Lots of bars and restaurants dotted around offering extremely fresh seafood - stopped for moules frites and muscadet and we were not disappointed.

We visited the city of Bordeaux for a day and parked our car at Marche des Capucins with the intention of looking at the market and then walking through to see the Cathedral, the Place de la Bourse, the Pont de Pierre, the mirror pool and the main shopping street. The market was a typical small big city market about... More
