Not your typical church museum

Stopped here as a time filler and found enjoyable. Actually excellent photo op out window on one of the upper floors. The building itself is an experience. It is old.

I knew that I had to see this place for just showing respect to Strasbourg people and for spending what turned out to be almost week there and three hours at the park and walking around the city as much a much as I did and for staying at the cathedral for as long as I did. If you are... More

This is far more than the usual museum attached to a cathedral. Not only are there sculptures from the cathedral facade but there are a wealth of artifacts, sculptures, retables, and paintings from the early Middle Ages through the renaissance. The audio guide is indispensable.

This lovely museum houses one of the most intriguing collections I've seen. Many of the sculptures from Notre-Dame are here. It is extremely well curated and has an excellent, excellent audio guide. For the truely interested, you could spend hours. I loved the stained glass. I loved the paintings. I wish the garden had been open.

Do not miss the opportunity to see the original statuary from the cathedral, the beautiful stained glass, and the many other treasures in this delightful museum.

Many of the original sculptures on the cathedral have been removed (and replaced by copies) to prevent damage from weather. The originals are in the museum an can be viewed up close. The docents are extremely helpful and excited about their collection of church treasures. Do not miss the opportunity the view the architectural drawings for the cathedral.

beautiful building, interesting objects, doorways, windows, wall coverings, ceilings and furniture placed to give context. Nice to be so close to carved stone normally seen at great distances on top of cathedrals. The architecture exposition - of how the Notre dame de Strasbourg was but - is extraordinarily interesting. Unfortunately there is no documentation that we could buy to take... More

This is a great museum, but the experience is greatly improved by the audio guide. It gives so much more information than what you'd otherwise get, presented clearly and easy to follow. Highly recommended.

Not quite what we were expecting. Not much at all in English. Some lovely rooms. Plenty of stuff that use to belong in the cathedral opposite. The lady at the desk thought we would be 90 minutes. We did 30 minutes. Took some nice pictures, but unless you really adore the subject matter, go the the actual cathedral and climb... More

Very interesting to see the treasures of medieval Strasbourg, especially those relating to the cathedral. There was a lot of information regarding the restoration and the preservation of pieces coming from the cathedral, but other pieces don't have any information other than the name of the artist, the title and possible date. Would've been nice to learn more about them... More
