This museum is great for everyone - kids AND us elders. It's loaded with tools, rooms, equipment, costumes, history, in beautiful rooms that just go on and on. There's at least one central courtyard with a bell-ringing gadget-guy on a balcony that's almost worth the price of admission. There is a carpenter's shop (complete with shavings) and a wine press... The museum had a headset which was good. The staff were friendly. The exhibition itself was very interesting and showed furniture and lifestyle items (birth, death, marriage, army, kitchen, bedroom). We found this better than the Historical Museum. If you can only do 1 museum in Strasbourg this is the one I'd do.

This lovely museum in a magnificent old town house has a wealth of historic exhibits, folk art, costumes and furniture displaying the history of life in Alsace. Everything's beautifully laid out, I especially liked the room settings, the historic costumes, the display of old toys, and the exhibits and videos demonstrating how the traditional Alsacian saltglazed pottery is made. Loads... More

The whole family enjoyed this regional museum greatly. The free audio tour and the authentic exhibits really showed what life was like in Alsace over the years.

displays some furniture (some rooms given completely as they used to look once, that's quite nice), clothes, toys... there is also a wine-cellar mostly in French... directions slightly confusing not not much of a problem as the museum is small

Really interesting museum with a lot of artefacts that give a unique insight into the daily lives of Alsatian people in times gone by. Even the building that hosts the museum is a historical treasure!

Nice how you can walk through several floors of the old museum building. Interestingly there were hardly any people, but I believe it is definitely worth a visit.

This was an extremely comprehensive collection of the unique life and times of a people caught in the tug-of-war over the Alsace region for centuries. Absolutely charming and authentic! Be careful not to miss a single exhibit as the flow of your visit meanders over several floors and buildings. It can be confusing to know where to go next. First... More

This museum shows everything you'd want to see and more from the Alsace region. You wind through several houses and are able to view different portions of Alsacian life from home living, apothecaries, religion, toys & games, etc. Worth a visit if you have time but if your time is limited I'd recommend the History Museum over this museum as...
