Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have family in France so generally I love visiting. However, this visit to the Museum in Modern Art was the worst experience of my life . The museum closed at 1pm and the staff was terribly rude and did not allow exiting visitors to go to the bathroom. They also pretended not to understand English when I asked to see the manager. The staff behavior was totally unacceptable in the context of an cultural institution . They should be fired !

It does have only a few of the great artists of our modern era, but does not suffer because of it. There is an intriguing display of Kandinsky’s work and relationship with music. Some of the minor artists and their attempts to create a new path, and of course the contemporary works of some that I’m still trying to absorb….

Wow, honestly one of the best museums I've ever been in. Went early so it was quiet. Got to see Picasso, Kandinsky and other famous names. Excellent mix of artwork to see, nice size and space. 2 floors. Can easily do in 1-2 hours or spend longer at cafe.

Short pleasant walk from old town. Recommend a visit to get out of the hot midday sun or for a rainy day.

At times I am convinced that the French are the world’s worst marketers.

Take French Museums, for example. Someone seems to go out of their way to disguise the entry point, in the hope that pesky and troublesome visitors will stay away.

Take Strasbourg’s Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art for another example. Not just happy with making their entry point invisible, they just decided to close for the day. A Tuesday, a day their website says they will open. They didn’t even bother to tell the staff in their café at the back.

Dear Director of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art,
A simple note on your website might have been enough to alert me, and the dozen or so other visitors that you were closed on Tuesday. Effective communication is such a simple thing. Please try it. Just once.

From the name of the museum I expected to see modern and contemporary art, of which there wasn't that much. Only a minority of the pieces were from the second half of the 20th century. Hardly anything was contemporary. Because of that I was rather disapppointed. The exhibition itself is well-done (especially the few more modern rooms), but if you want to see a lot of contemporary art this is the wrong place.
Also, it took us quite a bit to realise that the museum really is in that big building, as there is no big sign, saying that it is the Musée de l'art moderne et contemporaire, except a very tiny writing next to the door.

Interesting location and museum design, with some good art works. Especially work of Kandinsky got my attention. Worth a visit.

Good museum to visit just not as much art on display. Art that is on display is worth viewing. Nice way to spend an hour or two.

It's a marvelous building but the art was a let down. Half was closed and what is being exhibited is an eclectic mix of outstanding pieces and a load of naive and poorly executed rubbish.i like contemporary art but it must be expertly executed.
As for the toilets. Omg a beautiful building and 2 out of 3 toilets out of order. The one that worked had no toilet paper and it was so smelly. Shameful.

The cashier completely refused to understand simple request "one ticket, please", stating proudly she does not speak English. So someone from the queue helped us out translating our demand to enter the museum. Cashier was rude and not helpful at all for all other simple and standard inquire from other people. This is absolute nonsense in such an international spot like this.
