Worth a visit - a library that could have been in Harry Potter (almost), mixed with modern upgrades and design touches that combine to make it very impressive.

We just stopped by to have a little wander around and it was fantastic. A beautiful library worth visiting if you're into books, regardless of whether or not you want to take anything out.

Had some time to kill before going to a meeting, but what a brilliant experience. Very hi-tech and nothing like your typical library. Lots of interactive, but simple to operate computer screens. It gives a huge amount of history of Manchester and if anybody is...More

This place has changed in the fifty years since I used to use it regularly. We came here for coffee. As a library you'd expect it to be quiet, and it is. They had the Remembrance Day two minutes silence while we were there, and...More

The Central library was refreshing. It has old charm mixed with new. There are many modern resources to get information about many topics, including information about the history of Manchester.

Very beautiful library in circular format. Try to go to the top floor which is the most fantastic place in this library.

The reading area was big, well-lit and had a nice and cozy atmosphere. The rest of the library seemed nice as well with a wide range of books. The café and shop was nice as well.

A little something for everyone. The ground level is open and unlibrary like. They have a piano, they have many hands on activities for the young and old to engage. It is bright and welcoming and is not afraid of using modern technology. A model...More

It's really smart in here and the exhibition space is well used. I went in to keep dry and it worked.

Hi, Yes we have the MEN on microfilm. It's on open access and can be viewed anytime, no need to book. It's in Archives+ on the ground floor, behind the cafe.

I think it depends on how far back you have already traced. The library has access to all the civil records which includes the Church of England but I dont think includes the Catholic or other non conformist churches. There... More
