Emmeline Pankhurst is closely connected to the City of Manchester, she was born on Moss Side and lived in the City, so that it is particularly apt that this fine statue was erected and unveiled at the end of 2018. It shows her in full speech mode standing on a chair and is prominently situated opposite the main City library, close to the St Peter’s Square interchange. Stop and enjoy the figure next time you pass by.

In front of the Central Library you will find this monument aimed at remembering the achievements of women¿s movement, the injustices they had to undergo and to bear in mind that it is always worth fighting for what must be changed. I know that you can also visit the building that used to be her house, but it's only open on thursdays for general public.

Statue honoring political activist Emmelline Pankhurst, who fought for the right of women to vote. She was an organizer of the 'suffragette' movement. It was erected in December 2018, just 100 years after the first elections where women had the right to vote.

The statue is located in St. Peter's Square, just opposite Central Library. Sculpted in bronze larger than the real size, the heroine, on a chair, evokes a position of claim. Around the work it´s writen the message: 'Deeds not Words'. Interesting work for a heroine born in a Manchester neighborhood.

This is a really nice memorial but I do think they could have put it in a more prominent place in St Peters Square.

This is a great statue in Central Manchester. It celebrates Emmeline Pankhurst and her fight for the vote, a vote that was passed into law in 1928, the same year she died.

I stumbled across this whilst finding my way to the town hall. Great statue showing her in action. Did a lot for getting the women’s vote and should have a statue in a prominent place.

Love this statue and it’s location adds to St Peters Square. It’s in its own setting with a plinth round it with Deeds not words etched on in tribute. It’s well worth a visit.
