Housed in the old Lancaster Town Hall, an elegant Georgian building built in the 1780's, this is an excellent museum telling the story of this great city. Housing many fascinating artefacts and also home to the superb Kings Own Regiment museum. Lancaster's a great city...More

Not to sound rude but it was a very boring museum which is a shame cause Lancaster has a lot of history but I wouldn't recommend going. Very small and not much to offer at all 2 exhibitions that aren't very exciting.

The WWI exhibition was outstanding. The general exhibits were well presented with just the right amount of description. It really set the scene for the rest of our stay in the City.

I really enjoyed my visit to the museum and couldn’t believe how quiet it was and yet it’s in the town centre where the streets outside were busy with plenty of people. It’s free admission but donations are welcome. I was surprised at how many...More

Visited museum while in Lancaster and was very impressed with the items and details were very good. The military museum was particularly interesting and should be a must for school children Well worth a visit and it's free

It’s free! Lovely, informative displays, a huge range of historical artefacts, interactive displays for school age children. We particularly liked the Kings Own Regiment rooms. Wonderful find, and really friendly staff.

This is a brilliant museum and it is free. Situated in the heart of the city, it could be easy to walk past it, but you mustn't! There is so much to find out about the local area such as the Pendle Witches or Lancaster...More

An eclectic mix of exhibits on several floors which concentrate mainly on local history including the infamous Pendle witches trials. Also, an extensive section devoted to militaria. Well worth a visit and entry is free.
