Absolutely fantastic and so inexpensive, puts any National Trust visit to shame and we have visited a lot....The castle itself is lived in but given in private hands and the cost of the upkeep understandable. It was the knowledge, friendliness, humour of our two lady...More

Popular attraction with free access to the garden and parkland on weekdays. Pretty formal garden. Extensive Deer Park and lakeside walks. Interesting and informative Castle Tours, lasting 1 hour, are available at an additional charge. The adjacent tea room is understandably popular with a good...More

I recently visited Ripley Castle and Gardens during a wedding. I felt like I was in a fairytale while I was on the grounds. The views from each side are stunning. The castle is gorgeous. It is worth the drive out of Harrogate!

The very well maintained castle is privately held and the successors still live in a part. I would respect the dedication with which the guides describe the whole history around it, but it's a bit too much if you get to listen it for more...More

Spent a lovely day here. Very knowledgeable tour guide called Margot brought the castle to life and the grounds and gardens are just beautiful. Nice gift shop, arty shop and tea rooms.

My neighbour and I visited last Thursday and went on the 11 AM tour. The lady running the tour was so well informed and friendly and obviously passionate about the castle and its history. We then went to the tea rooms and all the staff...More

Great place for lunch and a walk round the gardens. Didn't manage to get inside the castle as it was booked for a wedding - fab location for the photos!

What a fairy tale place to be. Excellent venue for a wedding. Roast Hog was amazing. Drinks a bit on the pricey side but we expected that but didn't expect how long it would take to be served at the bar. That was the only...More

I don't remember too much walking, more standing around. The staff were very helpful I'm sure they'll provide chairs for sister. Enjoy😊

Sorry just seen this. If it's not too late, the tour takes a good hour and you don't need to book in advance. I would definitely recommend the tour to hear the fascinating history of the house.
