5 star Wine Tasting & Wines
Jun. 2018 • Business
Blakes is a small family run winery. We had a great tasting, 4 wines, small batch producer. Great quality, we bought all 4 and enjoyed great commentary from one of the owners.

A definite must visit on the Otway Harvest Trail.

Great Wines

Really enjoyed the Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Well worth the visit to the cellar door, which had lovely views of the vineyards.

Lovely little surprise hidden away

Popped in a few times now and the blakes are lovely people and their vineyard is beautiful... And I love their Pinot Grigio and Blanc de Blanc... It's a true cellar door experience!

Great Wine
Apr. 2016 • Family
Lovely friendly winery. Owners take the time to chat about their wine and are generous with the tasting. My tip is to bring a snack or lunch and sit outside and relax and enjoy the view across the vineyard with a bottle of Pinot!

Ordinary

Just ok from our point of view. Small tasting room. The attention of the lady serving was on the other people who were already there not us. The wine was just ok but quite pricey. The sparkling was the best. It was lovely and creamy. The Pinot Gris had an unhappy aftertaste. The reserve Pinot noir was nice and worth tasting. But, even after 20 minutes it was clear that we didn't matter much here and we left the lady serving to fully concentrate on people who seemed to be friends. We've been to cellar doors all over the country, from the Yarra Valley to McLaren Vale, from the Clare Valley to the Pyrenees, from the Mornington Peninsula to Orange. The less than warm welcome here and the high prices of the wines meant that it wasn't worth staying at this particular place. It's one of the very few cellar doors where we didn't buy a wine. We left for a warmer place and went back to Lorne.

Little boutique winery in Dean's Marsh

We stayed at Pennyroyal cottages and there was a bottle of the Pinot Grigio chilled in the fridge. We enjoyed it so much we wandered down to winery to sample their wines. We bought a sparkling Rose - which is also excellent

The wines are worth the visit, even without the pleasant conversation
Jun. 2015 • Family
A really pleasant little winery to visit, with good wines of excellent quality. The Pinot Noir is a classic of the region, and well worth the visit. Take note that Blakes Estate is closed from mid June until October, due to it's remote position, and to the inclement weather. However, in the warmer months it is worth a visit to sample the Pinot, the Roses, and the sparklings and, when available, the Pinot Grigio.
