Love this place. So beautiful and serene and steeped in history. Lovely walk from the roadside car park up the Hill of Fore for lovely views of the valley below. The monastery is gorgeous too and very interesting to wander around. Some excellent guidebooks for sale in the little Cafe by the car park. The area is famous for its... More

7 wonders of Fore :) couldn't see the river that flows against the gradient but all the six others, good place if the sun is out, good photography spots too and very very peaceful. State of the art place on both sides of the road with a good parking and has a info chart in the parking area too.

This is my favourite place in the world, peaceful, tranquil, relaxing and very spiritual. As you wonder around the ruins its hard not to imagine the Benedictine monks wandering the grounds. Steeped with history and myths, the ruins are spectacular as they nestle between the hills. A pretty backdrop for any photo shoot. You never know you may just capture a... More

Lovely afternoon wondering round the ruins kept the kids busy and entertained. Would highly recommend as a cheap afternoon if already in the area.

Fore Abbey isn't the easiest place to find. In fact it is only when you are within a few kilometers that you finally stumble across a road sign. Even my GPS conspired against me by referring to the village as 'Ben of Fore' not 'Fore'. The Abbey itself and a collection of other ruins are nestled in a tranquil valley... More

Unspoiled and uncommercialised interesting ruin tucked in a scenic peaceful valley. No entry fee and relatively well maintained in terms of litter. Great traffic free place for kids to ramble round and explore. There is also a lovely 3.5km circular walk from the abbey ruins, taking you past woodland and fields which bring you back to the village. Large car... More

Went here with a group of students so was not sure how they would react . Gave them the map and they set off to do the walk and find the 7 wonders . Being city kids , they loved this as it brought them into the heart of the countryside . They loved the whole idea of discovering something... More

Lovely day and walk with my dog. Nice cafe near by and nice walk on good day. Interesting ruins to wander through and free entry. I remember it from years ago and it was better looked after then

We were riding alone in the countryside and spotted what looked like a castle in the distance. As we got closer, the Abby came into view and we saw that there was a car park alongside the road. We parked and then followed the path over the creek to the remains of the Abbey. We walked the quiet grounds and... More

A great day for someone going on a day trip alone, with a friend, or with family. The ruins are a unique way to see the past without any restrictions. There is lots of space for children to enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment. The viewpoint also gives some great views of the area. The walkways around the Abbey... More
