We took a guided tour with a nice small group. Our guide was knowledgeable about history of the area and actual castle, but all in all there isn't a ton to see. The castle is mostly intact, better than many others in Ireland, but has...More

This castle is picturesquely situated in Cahir town center, in County Tipperary. The castle is bordered by rushing water and a swan-dotted partial moat. It is a beautifully intact castle. We had a brief guided tour of the exterior, and then time to roam the...More

Really enjoyed this visit. So many rooms, buildings, staircases and tunnels. Kids loved it! Dungeons were a bit creepy but other than that very interesting. Didn’t realize so many movies/scenes were shot here! Well worth the visit

We had stayed at Kilcoran Lodge Hotel, 10 minutes away and they were advertising this at reception, so before heading home to Cork, we popped in and very glad we did. Although a Sunday morning in February, this OPW property was open for business and...More

Took the family to this and they were engaged and had fun with all the nooks and crannies which can be discovered around the place. It was good value - 13 euro for a family. There were very few people around, being winter and we...More

Of the four castles we visited, this was our favorite in terms of the castle itself. It is large and had quite a bit to explore and see. There was a good amount of history on display with various items and fact filled displays. The...More
