Our captain, George, took us across the water and back in time. The weather was a bit changeable but, in a way, that added to the experience. The music and poetry made for a wonderful afternoon. A nice cup of hot tea helped as well. Definitely felt like we we visiting a part of Yeats' world. Recommended.

Arrived on a dismal day so the atmosphere was not a great start, but skipper George changed that. His commentary was a mixture of scholarship, great good humour and local knowledge which made the trip memorable. I like Yeats but his reciting of the poems from memory enlivened the Lake Isle of Innisfree. Everyone visiting Ireland must put this this... More

Lovely to hear of your memorable experience on board. We do try to enlighten our passengers with a little bit of Yeats through the area he spoke so fondly of, but in an accessible way. The trip does bring his poetry to life. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Regards Annette More

We brought our three young children on this trip and they thoroughly enjoyed it. Really relaxed guide with lots of poetry and music. A great way to spend a peaceful hour. We loved it.

Lovely guide George and relaxing light hearted boat trip with poetry, song and all things Yeats! When in Sligo do as Yeats would do!

We were really lucky with the weather on the day we took this trip. There were only a couple of short showers and we were able to go up top for most of the trip. If you are in the Sligo area this tour is a must. The scenery out on the lake is fantastic and the Captain kept us entertained... More

I took the bus/boat tour from Sligo Tourist Office and was shown around all the significant places related to WB Yeats and his family. Then the tour went on the Rose of Innishfree boat around Lough Gill, again with plenty of information about the lake and how it related to Yeats and other significant historical events. There was plenty of... More

Well maintained boat, lovely scenic views on the lake, the boat would also be good for catered parties etc, local pickup from designated hotels and tourist offices

My sister, husband and I travelled with our dog. We enjoyed our journey very much. Beautiful peaceful surrounding of Lough Gill and The Isle of Innisfree not to be missed. Very helpful and friendly crew on board. Captain of the boat recited Yeat's poetry beautifully at many appropriate times throughout our journey, there and back. We were also able to... More

I took this boat tour on Lough Gill along with a group of friends without knowing what to expect. The day was cold and breezy but the boat was extremely comfortable and calm. It just glides slowly on the lake. The inside is roomy and comfortable and has fabulous views on both sides. Host George set about making the tea... More

The weather wasn't exactly on our side, with drizzle to spoil the views, but the very friendly captain made our children's day when he let them steer the ship for a few minutes, and even ring the horn!

We do try to offer as much as possible to counteract the sometimes dreadful soft irish weather. Still a worthwhile experience even on a miserable day, then. Thanks for taking the time to share. More
