Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had heard good things about the food in South's. We tried it on a Thursday evening, the food was excellent . Michael the barman made us feel so welcome and really looked after us . The menu has a great choice of dishes and we opted for the Thai Prawn Curry and the Beef burger. Both were delicious

Ive never used this site before or any other to rate a pub or restaurant but felt it was completely necessary to do so now..

It was an absolute disgrace how I was treated by a staff member today for the second time in Souths pub.. I promised my self the first time I was treated with no respect or courtesy that I would not return, But decided to accompany my friend as they where there already.
I honestly couldn't believe from the get go how rude and unmannerly this man was... Will not be returning and certainly will not be recommending this pub to any friends, family or any one I should meet.

This is the place to be, steeped in History yet the most modern pub of its type in Ireland, excellent food, best winning pint outside of OGara's kicking one's, family run, Dave, Peg, Libby, Susan, Richard, very personnel friendly service, it has the honour of the first legal pint pulled on Good Friday 2010. A must visit Pub.

We have visited this Pub on many occasions and it has become one of our favourites when visiting Limerick. From the beautiful interior right through to the most pleasant bar staff you could hope to meet South's has it all. Customers are of a more senior age group and contain some amazing characters. Bright airy and pleasant it is definitely the pub to visit when in Limerick.

While visiting the Frank McCourt Museum, we learned that this pub was basically around the corner from the museum so we decided to go check it out. This of course is the pub that Frank took his first pint.

We were there around the lunch hour and the place was packed. So packed, my husband decided we'd just have a drink at the bar and then go someplace else for a bite to eat.

The pub was filled with what seemed to be mostly business people on their lunch hour.
A very classy looking place and judging from the numbers, popular with the locals.

I'd definitely recommend a stop here while in Limerick, especially for Frank McCourt fans. If you have found this review to be helpful, kindly let me know by clicking below.

Wonderfull pub, professional crowd, great food!
This is the pub of Frank McCourts book, but even without this its got a touch of class not seen in many bars. A lot of cops & shop owners eat there, just a relaxing place to eat!

Popped in for a Guiness, as you must, and was met with friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. The building itself is very impressive giving a sense of times long gone. We didn't have time to stay for lunch, but the food smelled and looked great. Given the number of local workers that turned up to sample it, it was recommendation enough.

One of the nicest pubs in Limerick. If you have been to Belfast, its very similar to the famous Crown pub.

Looks small from the outside but is big inside with plenty of seats.

Large screens with sport on so a fantasic place to match a match be it GAA or soccer. Always horseracing on too and a bookies next door which is handy.

One of the best pints of Guinness in Limerick in some of the nicest surroundings. Professional staff.

We stopped in here to watch some Rugby last wknd and there was a great crowd, seems a great pub to watch sport, serves good food and stocks a lot of European beers/lagers which others don't. Really enjoyed my Peroni Nastro on tap.. Lots of seating and a very nice crowd.
