We were waiting for another site to open so stopped in and was pleasantly surprised. While a house of some wealth it was not a mansion so that made it interesting. The garden was for functional purposes and made for an interesting tour. It helped us understand the commercial world of Kilkenny and what that wealth brought to people.

It's great that such an old building has been preserved and it looks amazing from the outside, however the exhibitions are somewhat lacking. This could be an amazing attraction if a little more thought was put into it. There is space for so much more and the rooms and courtyards themselves are wonderful. The garden is pleasant and well maintained.

this is a very beautiful house to look at but once you walk inside its very disjointed and poky this is just the way life was back then but it made myself and my son uncomfortable. also the fact that you had to show yourself around was annoying as you arent sure where or what your ment to look at... We visited because it was billed as a medieval house containing artifacts. Well, the artifacts, although interesting, were not very many. They were also of various periods and mostly had nothing to do with the house or gardens. Regardless, this was well worth the time to see a beautifully preserved medieval house that actually is comprised of three houses. The... More

As an American, the age of the house and gardens is hard to grasp. The garden dates back to the 1600's and includes authentic vegetables, fruit trees, berries, and herbs. As someone who has read Culpepers Herbal, here's an herb garden that is somewhat contemporary to that book. Awesome. The grounds are cool, especially the antlers of the long-extinct Irish... More

The amount of information that is available here is surprising. Give yourself plenty of time to browse the exhibits, and visit the gardens weather permitting.

Well presented with some really interesting facts in regard to medieval townhouses. Will be great when they get the guides to show people round and give the story of the family. Worth a visit

Costing 15 euro for a family ticket, this was quite expensive compared to other sights to see in Kilkenny for the same price, however, we did find it interesting but would be better on a sunny day as the garden at the top was quite pretty.

Visited here a few weeks ago on a cold wet Saturday. We were greeted by a lovely friendly lady Nancy, she explained some of the history of the house and told us it was well worth a visit so we decided to go in. Well what a lovely surprise this is such a beautiful well preserved historic building well worth... More
