Visited when access into the castle wasn’t available, (possibly due to off season). Is in a lovely setting with great views, close car parking and doesn’t take long to look around.

After spending a lot of time at Muckross House and then the Abbey, we only walked around the exterior of Ross Castle, so can't say much about the interior. The setting is pretty though, right on Lough Leane.

Although it was almost flooded due to the recent storms when we went the tour was still on of the castle and it was very interesting. The guide was excellent and the groups small. It was also inexpensive.

Are you of Irish ancestry?? Does a historical Castle interest you? Please take the guided tour of Ross Castle. The tour will probably put your Irish heritage in context historically and much more. It is located very close to Killarney town.

I enjoyed seeing the castle and learning the history behind it. It is also in a very beautiful and scenic area. I did not make it all the way through the tour of the caste's interior - the steps were very steep and spiraled enough...More

The Ross Castle B&B is in Oldcastle County Meath and not the one in Killarney. There is a disclaimer in their website.

You cannot have any food or drink out during your tour however there are lovely areas outside to eat and enjoy the brilliant views.

There are a few in and around the castle, but to be honest it's so busy and crowed, it's not the sort of place I would stop for a picnic. Too noisy.
