I'm so lucky to live near this beautiful area. I usually walk the prom at least twice a week and if I don't I really miss it. You cannot visit Galway without taking a walk on the famous prom. You won't regret it.

This promenade is easily accessible and very popular. It runs along Galway Bay and offers direct beach access to the water. The promenade offers wide paths for walking/jogging and a diving pier at the western end. I don't know exactly how long the promenade is but it did stretch into town from the hotels, etc on the west end of... More

As promenades go, Salthill provides a most interesting walk along the Atlantic. It is well maintained unlike other parts of Galway and tends not to attract "beer drinking" tenagers. Within the commercial area, there are many restaurants, bars, amusement arcades and casino.

During our tour of the West Coast we passed through Salthill when arriving at Galway. In the evening we walked the promenade from Galway, it was very nice! Highly recommended.

We were given a three room suite. This to us was a little awkward. The room was comfortable and quiet. The hair dryer didn't plug close to the mirror. The desk staff was excellent. Very friendly. We loved the bar. The atmosphere felt like a lodge. The beer was cold and the band was great.

Full of people loving life! Power walkers of all ages, cyclists, families, swimming groups diving off the diving board into the sea. There's a sealife aquarium, loads of cafes, pubs, restaurants, even a little funfair for the kids. Beautifully clean, and with stunnong views of the Connemara mountains. What a place! Take me back...

I was a little disappointed when we first arrived, expecting the promenade to be more hustling, with more shops, and the salthill city center to cobblestone and more of a fairy tale. The apartment hotel we stayed in has no shops under it, and looks uncared for, though it takes up most of the promenade. Lots of abandoned buildings. Once... More
