Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Water temperate in June and July 2023 so far is excellent for wild open water sea swimming without need for wetsuits. Lifeguards on duty until 7pm every day at this time of year. Great social vibe at Blackrock Diving Tower. Beaches suitable for all ages. Blackrock Diving Tower best suited for adults

A beautiful place to relax by the sea. Sand nice and clean. Free parking on road side. This is a hidden gem it wasn't particularly busy despite the weather being decent. This is a 10 minute walk to the promenade.

I just moved to Galway from America about a month ago and am now living 5 minutes away from Salthill Beaches. It is a beautiful and quite spot to spend time in. Galway city centre becomes very busy and overcrowded at times and this is a great spot to grab a book, coffee and sit down on the promenade. It is also a wonderful spot for a long run as it is the--or one of the-- longest promenade(s) in Europe. There are many restaurants, pubs and some shopping in this area and it is only a 10-15 minute walk from city centre.

On a beautiful summers day at high tide, quite a nice beach. However, I am told by the locals that this sort of weather is not often and you can tell as they make the most of it themselves! If you bother to make a day of the Salthill beaches, head right down the end of the Promenade to the diving board - there are steps for Mums and Dads and a great area for the kids to go swimming in. Don't bother with the bucket and spade, the majority of coverage is large rocks. Nothing to write home about, but with a leisure centre and amusement park (albeit a small one), it is worth a day out for a family.

The smell, the sound, the taste, the touch, the sight, all your senses are stimulated at Salthill beaches. Over the past number of years the council has greatly improved the waterfront area. Even on a wet day its nice to visit, have a cuppa in the cafe across the road and watch the tide. Its a nice place to spend a few days, only a stones throw away from Galway City.

If you like to swim all year round salthill Galway (down by the diving boards ~ known as blackrock) is the place to do it. The area is well kept and you will meet local swimmers at any time of the day. Always think about safety before entering the water.

Salthill Beaches is just a short distance out of Galway along the spectacular coast. Another location you must see as you travel through Ireland on your driving holiday.

Went here for a swim with my nine year old. High tide was in at blackrock and the water water was deep. He got a chance to jump from the platforms on blackrock tower and loved it. A real galway right of passage for any youngster. The water was lovely, clean and warm for a swim. We changed on the steps beside the swimming but there was a changing room and shower near the swimming area for 20cents if needed. We'll definitely be back again soon...

Salt hill beach is one of the stunning clean beaches of Galway. I visit almost every summer, but the summer of 2018 was special because of a heatwave. Must visit beach.
