- urbanguyRichmond, Virginia5,008 contributionsReally Nice Urban ParkIt's a great place to just "hang out" or walk through. It's not large; 5 minutes to go through it. One evening, we brought a take out dinner to the park and just ate and people-watched. Fun! There's a kid's playground. It honors JFK......the Kennedy Park Eyre Square Playground.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 September 2023

There is lots going around outside of here and you can hear it all. It was nice to sit here for an hour while waiting for our bus ride back to Dublin as we only spent a day here.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 March 2024

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed one night and had an awful experience. The hotel is undergoing renovation and therefore not great in places. Despite our room being newly renovated the shower never got beyond Luke warm. Our room rate included free car parking which was not the case. But the worse part was being awoken at 4.45am by a member of staff walking into the room.
Avoid.

Avoid the carpark in Eyre square shopping centre, no room to drive, very dangerous and too small of a place to park. You leave stressed yet the parking is expensive. Tey to park on the docks outside.
Also tthe toilets in the centre charge 50 cent, I only had a coin and no bank card, but the sign said coins taken and I put correct amount. It didnt let me in and with a ton of people waiting behind me I left still needing the toilet with the 50 cent taken.
Be warned, very unfair

It’s a good meeting spot. Not much here apart from some old family crest flags and part of an old castle that’s boxed off with plastic screens. Buskers add to the atmosphere if you’re lucky.

Galway can be a confusing place to find your way, with narrow, often one-way, streets that enter little squares at odd angles. But everything seems to converge at Eyre Square, in the middle of the city. Within easy walking distance of numerous hotels and restaurants, it serves as a meeting place, a place for a casual walk amid the landscaping, or simply a place to relax and watch the people. It becomes especially lively in the evening.

Eyre square is excellent has everything it's the vein of Galway. Big little and spacious pubs restaurants and coffee spots. The Quay is our favourite place great food staff and bands later in the night. Shopping is also bonus and its surrounded by places to stay.

This review refers to Eyre Square which is a public park, and not Eyre Square Shopping Centre, which is located just opposite. I only visited here to find somewhere to sit to have a sandwich. To be honest, Eyre Square is nothing really to write home about.
On the plus size, it's clean enough.
However, there weren't many benches leading to me having to sit on the concrete causing me aches and pains!
The biggest insult was that there were three public toilets located here, all of which had been locked! A complete waste of space! Having said that, with ancient moisture splattered up the unenticing metal doors, a visit to the toilet would probably have made me vomit. Maybe this was a good thing - the Lord works in mysterious ways!
Overall, this is a pretty nondescript 'park'. Would I recommend it? Well it depends. If you're looking for a place to eat your sandwich, at least there is some seating offered here. But the place is void of any other purpose!

This is where all the people gather. There is a beautiful little park in the center of Eyre Square, surrounded by Shopping centre, pubs and places to eat. Lots of people walking through the park, some lying around sunbathing, others sitting down watching all the activity or taking photographs. You can't visit Galway without popping into Eyre Square.

Will be visiting in June, staying at Galmont, and wondering about a nearby pub/eatery you might recommend.
