The pub, the poet and the pint. In Dublin, they seem to be inseparable. The public house is where writers sharpened their wit. This two hour walking tour is led by a team of professional actors who follow in the footsteps of James Joyce, Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde, Brendan Behan and many others. You will hear renditions of prose, verse, drama and song from Dublin's literary hall of fame. The evening is packed with entertainment and also includes a quiz with prizes for the winners. As one critic wrote: 'A highly enjoyable evening that gives you the pleasant notion of replacing brain cells as you drown them'. Check our website for further details and to book online.

This walk around literary significant areas of Dublin with interludes of poetry and plays was a lot of fun. Derek and Colm imparted many interesting and little known facts about Ireland's writers. The quiz was very competively fought by our group in a friendly fashion and it served to encourage strangers to interact with each other. We met some nice... More

It is one of the most entertaining things I ever did. The actors are brilliant and the locations well thought out. Even if you don't know all of the Irish writers, you will get a lot out of it and a lot of inspiration for further reading. There was time to talk and get valuable recommendations on the way and... There's plenty of pubs to visit in Dublin, but this event weaves in a little acting, a little history, and a little comedy with a little drinking, too. Finn and Sarah were the actors and they were fantastic. Even if you haven't read the works they are referring to (I hadn't), you can appreciate how they bring those stories to... More

I am a huge fan of literature; my fiancé, not so much. But this tour was great for both of us. The actors are funny and knowledgable. You meet at the Duke Pub (the Duke is pretty awesome too) and proceed to the college across the way, and few more pubs before letting out at a bar across from the... More

You meet up at Duke's Pub, given a brief intro (and wonderful interpretation of a scene from "Godot") by your excellent actors/guides. Then tidbits about Ireland's great literary heritage and favorite writers--Wilde, Yeats, Joyce, Heaney, Beckett, Shaw, Behan, among others. All this as you stop at several more pubs and other historic locations along the way. You're given about 20... More

This tour was a great way to get out and see a few pubs you might pass by on your own. It was also a great way to learn a bit, meet new people and hear some very engaging entertainers.

If you fancy something a little bit different for an evening in Dublin then you could always try a pub crawl. Not one filled with wild 18 year olds – but there is a Literary Pub Crawl in Dublin. Dublin is full of literary history, if you haven’t read Ulysses don’t worry – you’ll get the shortened version on the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the Literary pub crawl! We learned about the history of Ireland and Irish literature, but in a very fun atmosphere. The two actors were very knowledgeable, and lightened up what could have been quite dry material. They were very friendly during the pub stops and spent time getting to know their customers and answering questions. We were... More

It was my wife who wanted to do this, having done it before. I was more interested in the Pub crawl side of things to be honest. However, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was highly entertaining, funny, not at all academic or high-brow, which had been my initial worry. We visited some good pubs, made some new friendly and had... More

We were treated to this on a business trip and it was really fun! We went to more than just pubs - there was a stop at Trinity College, and one near the Molly Malone statue. Our guides were entertaining and very knowledgeable. Be prepared to hoof it, though, so wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
