Christ Church Cathedral is one of Dublin's oldest buildings, a leading visitor attraction and a place of pilgrimage for almost 1,000 years. Famous for its breathtaking beauty, magnificent architectural features and wonderful floor tiles, Christ Church is also popular as a venue and is host to many high profile concerts throughout the year. It is home to the tomb of Strongbow, leader of the Normans, who captured Dublin in 1170. The Medieval Crypt, one of the largest in Britain and Ireland, extends under the entire Cathedral and contains The Mummified cat and rat, trapped in the organ in the 1860s. Guided tours, including the belfry, available up to five times a day Monday to Saturday.

I visited both Christ Church Cathedral and Saint Patrick's Cathedral but found Christ Church to be more accessible a bit more interesting due to the option of ringing the bell tower at the top and the collection of silver and other curiosities (mummified cat and...More

Really wonderful church with great architecture. Was not a fan of entry fee. Vast majority do not have it but this one does.

Visited Christ Church on a day of South Dublin sight seeing and of all the things I did, this site was the least valuable for the entry cost. While beautiful and historically fascinating, it felt like I was paying a lot for a little in...More

This church was quiet and fascinating. Beautiful architecture with impressive floor tiles-some dating from medieval period. Excellent gothic style perfect for photography. We just used the free map given upon entry and followed it around the church and downstairs to the crypt. Unlike most crypts,...More

I would probably say that most of the beauty in this building is exhibited on the outside. But, if you happen to be inside while the choir is practicing, it really makes for a fabulous experience.

We are not regular churchgoers but attended the 11:00 Sunday service which featured a choir and processional. That really captured the essence of this ancient site of worship.

Very beautiful church that is also connected to the Dublinia building. From the outside is just superb. On the other hand id say I do not recommend to pay the entrance since the inside aint that good.

If you go in the high season I'd plan ahead because there are a lot of groups booked in. If you go the same day I'd suggest you go early.

Hi, The guided tour takes approximately 45 minutes, which includes a visit to the belfry to ring the cathedral bells.
