This is less a library and more a museum of a great collection of books. As an ardent bibliophile, I enjoyed it immensely, not just in terms of the exhibits, but how much I learned. The curators have done a great job of putting at least part of Beatty's collection, some of it dating back many hundreds of years, in... More

Finding it was a bit of a challenge, going through Dublin's Castle gardens. Really enjoyed walking through the exhibits and admiring very early manuscripts of all religions. Beautifully displayed. Free entrance.

Beatty's collection of art is maybe the most stunning I have seen ever. The two galleries are filled with beautiful books, bindings, clothing, etc. This library is by donation only so there is no excuse to not go! Amazing stuff!

In some way it surpassed the Book of Kells. It is not only a book collection it is about the written expression of culture in many countries. You will spend time looking at incredible books, writing devices, book fabrication, etc.Unique pieces to admire.

Amazing collection of books from many cultures - if you are interested in books or the history of printing/illumination/art, there's much to see but not so much as to be overwhelming. the kids enjoyed the computer screens dotted around that gave little video clips of how some of the books were made ie how printing works. A good way to... More

I'm not sure what I was expecting from the Chester Beatty Library, but I was blown away by both the quality of exhibits (holy books from a variety of times, places, and traditions) and the way they were displayed--clearly explained, without too much text. Anyone interested in books should add this museum to their itinerary.

Very nice gallery with very high quality displays from an impressive private collection. The library is well-planned, with an introductory video about Chester Beatty and how he came to own his collection right as you enter the building, and the galleries on the upper floors. The library contains many beautifully crafted artworks and texts from many regions and eras. It... More
