We went there hoping for something lovely and cozy since it was advertised as the first European shopping mall, but when you think about it since there were no shopping malls at that time to baptize a little alley in a lovely building a shopping mall is a little stretched out. Anyway even the shops inside weren't that interesting. Its a ten minute waste of time, the whole experience.

Took a trip to George’s street arcade to pick up a book at stokes bookshop. A nice little shop which has a great variety of different books. Service is personal & friendly and it’s always nice to support local business as opposed to the big chains. Be aware they close at 6pm. However my issue is not with stokes bookshop, it’s with George street arcade, with no real social distance being observed. A lot of shops staff wearing masks others not. It really is a small area but with Covid, somebody should be keeping an eye on the large crowds that pass through and having a traffic light system in place. I would of bought other things, but felt it was safer to get out ASAP. Please sort this out.

We walked through St. George’s Arcade and it’s a must-visit landmark in Dublin, Ireland. As the country's first shopping centre and Europe's oldest, constructed in 1881, it holds a special place in architecture and commercialization. It also centralized shopping needs.
The Arcade's Victorian charm is immediately evident. as soon as you walk up to it. It has the red brick and terracotta turrets. Inside, the atmosphere is bustling with large shops to internal booths with the natural sunlight shining in from the high vaulted glass roof. The eclectic mix of stalls and shops offers everything from vintage clothing and jewelry to artisanal foods and quirky souvenirs.

Quirky and interesting, I love the setting but the shops and stalls are not to my taste, I'm too old!!! However I adore walking through anyway and have picked up a few pieces of cheap jewellery there. Worth a walkthrough if you are in the area.
Quick tip is to walk from Georges St then all the way through the arcade, walk through the Powerscourt centre then through to Grafton Street, or the other way round.

Headed here for a walk after a busy day seeing some of Dublin's amazing sights, thoroughly enjoyed looking round the stalls and shops. Very welcoming and a great selection of things to buy. Would definitely come back again.

Great selection of fun, affordable vintage clothing and accessories at Retroshop. Location is beautiful, too. The best part of our experience was lovely, friendly Isabelle. She was fantastic with my daughter and so funny! We'll definitely be regulars.

Sadly like a lot of Dublin, the arcade is now mostly chi-chi eateries and tourist tat.
Would have liked to see more genuine Irish crafts and artisans rather than bought-in third-world garbage.
A lovely old building though and worth a quick look or a coffee stop.

Built back in the late 1800’s, this market was the first shopping center in Dublin. It has evolved over time andit has a wide range of products sold here. It is smaller “stalls” and shops and a walkthrough of the entire market doesn’t take much time.
I am into history and thought it was worth a visit and walkthrough.

We visited on a Sunday and found only about a third of the shops/stalls open. However it was still nice to wander around and admire the historic building and see what was available for sale.

The shop is known as RARE it is located at the Drury St end of the mall on the right hand side looking towards George's street.

The name "George" is all over Ireland. Referring to what king? i.e. Great George's Street, Temple Bar, George's Street, Dun Laoghaire. I thought any George was anathema to the Irish.

In some places the old British Empire names have been replaced. Titanic stopped off Queenstown to pick up her last passengers; that town is now Cobh. Carlisle Bridge was redubbed O'Connell Bridge. However pPlaces like Grafton Street and Nassau Street have maintained their original names from empire-era aristocratic families. The specific ones you mentioned, I'm not sure...
