A must visit for anyone in Dublin a real old fashioned pub. The walls are full of newspaper articles about the Dublineers as well as many photos and paintings, the Guinness is good to.

Go before 5 PM to snag seats at the classic bar; this place fills up as people leave work. A great place to drink with no food except grilled sandwiches. The bartenders are welcoming- especially if it's still quiet in there. Live music is presented several nights a week. This is where the band "The Dubliners" got their start. The... More

Go there for a pint after dinner and enjoy a live trad performance by some of Dublin's finest musicians. Show up early for a seat at the bar. A must see in Dublin!

Great bar with great Guinness and music. We were made to feel very welcome when we were the only people there in the afternoon, and the atmosphere was brilliant by the time it was packed in early evening. Wonderful.

Great atmosphere: a mix of locals, students and tourists in a wonderfully weatherbeaten pub. Live music: I went on a Monday night and there were separate 'trad' acoustic groups playing until midnight in both the front bar and the back room. Good beer, good fun, and good memories.

I last visited this bar 28 years ago, and made an effort this time to find it again. Nothing seemed to have changed! I'll swear the same musicians were sitting in the recess by the window, playing the same music. Loved it!

I went here on the recommendation of an Aussie (who was living in Dublin at the time) because he said it was authentic and not touristy like the bars in Temple Bar. I'm so glad I took his advice! I had a smashing time, drinking pints, chatting and laughing with locals, and of course listening to trad music. Service was... More

What a great pub in the middle of town. As a tourist, it was exactly what I was hoping for for my first ever pint in Ireland. Great tender and a fun place to talk with locals. We were laughing the entire time.

Called in for a couple. Lots of photos on walls, toilets very basic, but staff welcoming. Close to St Stephens park
