I visited the railway centre with my active 3 year old son who just loves trains. On arriving at the reception I paid my entrance fee and got talking to a lovely young lady who was working there. She was very good with my son showing him the layouts and listening to him talking about Thomas the tank engine, which... More

I have always had a great interest in railways, so given the histroy ofnthe Donegal NG railway, this place should have been a winner. Lets start from the begining. We arrived to an empty office, apparently. Eventually a young man came down and took €10 off us. We could see most off two rooms but I felt there had to... More

We visited this museum yesterday. Paid €15 for family entrance. Lots of information up but heavy reading. We watched the DVD for a while but not that interesting for young kids. Decided to look at the carriages but were told they were closed in preparation for Easter. We were the only visitors there. Surely they could have let us in.... More

It's terrible that the Donegal Railways (and most of the NI rail system) which was once so fantastic, is now gone. Learn about how extensive the rail network once was, how it joined communities and provided jobs and transport in such a wonderful way. I visit here often, as I love to see the old Railway items. My Mum and... More

I go there every time I'm in Donegal Town. It's a great place with videos, model trains, pictures and publications. It's a must see place for anyone interested in the history of the railway. The staff are so friendly.

Loved by my Thomas mad 4 year old and 2 year old. It was a sunny day when we called to visit. Only 10 Euro for the family and drinks were cheap too at only 1 Euro for tea and coffee. You could have a picnic outside. Even on a wet day it would be a nice place as a... More

Just on the outskirts of town (over the bridge) - brilliant history of the Donegal Railway. Girl on reception very friendly and full of knowledge of the museum and the town itself - advising on best places to go. Very reasonable - only 3 euro. Picnic tables outside and a kids area which lets them push a button to watch... More

We visited this museum in July 2016 and apart from an extensive collection of photographs showing the railway prior to its closure there is very little else to see. There are a few carriages which have been converted to show exhibits, a long film show of journeys on the line and a number of model railway layouts - none of... More
